platform_get_irq() returns an error code, but the dim2_hdm driver
ignores it and always returns -ENODEV. This is not correct and,
prevents -EPROBE_DEFER from being propagated properly.
Also, notice that platform_get_irq() no longer returns 0 on error:

This adds the dev_hold and dev_put calls to the functions
aim_resume_tx_channel, aim_rx_data and on_netinfo to postpone the
unregistration of the used net device.

This introduces the mutex that protects the consistency between the
tx.linked, rx.linked and the presence of the net divice.
Additionally, this patch optimizes the setup of the ch->linked in the
function aim_probe_channel.

The function aim_probe_channel calls only one of the functions
alloc_netdev and register_netdev per run.
Correspondingly, the function aim_disconnect_channel calls only one of
the functions unregister_netdev and free_netdev per run.
This patch makes it obvious by using the 'else' part of the 'if'
statement.

some data into the new space, introduce skb_put_data() for
this.

This moves the allocation of the net_dev to the aim_probe_channel() and
uses the parameter sizeof_priv of the function alloc_netdev to reserve
the space for the struct net_dev_context.
As a side effect, the nd->dev always points to the existing net_dev.

The function get_net_dev_context does not remove elements of the list.
Hence, list traversing does not need to be secured.

The modules hdm-usb and hdm-dim2 depend on the module aim-network, because
they use the function most_deliver_netinfo that it exports.
To remove this dependency, this patch replaces the call of the function
most_deliver_netinfo with the call of the function that is the parameter
'on_netinfo' of the function request_netinfo.

This replaces the call of wait_for_completion in case of an invalid MAC
address in the function most_nd_open() with the dormant state of the
network device.
As a side effect, opening the network device cannot fail anymore.

The function most_nd_stop is only called by successful return from the
function most_nd_open, so the channels_opened is always true in the
function most_nd_stop.
The functions aim_resume_tx_channel and aim_rx_data are only called
after successful most_start_channel in the function most_nd_open, so the
channels_opened is always true in the functions aim_resume_tx_channel
and aim_rx_data.

While examining output from trial builds with -Wformat-security enabled,
many strings were found that should be defined as "const", or as a char
array instead of char pointer. This makes some static analysis easier,
by producing fewer false positives.
As these are all trivial changes, it seemed best to put them all in a
single patch rather than chopping them up per maintainer.

"Here is the big staging tree update for 4.12-rc1.
It's a big one, adding about 350k new lines of crap^Wcode, mostly all
in a big dump of media drivers from Intel. But there's other new
drivers in here as well, yet-another-wifi driver, new IIO drivers, and
a new crypto accelerator.
We also deleted a bunch of stuff, mostly in patch cleanups, but also
the Android ION code has shrunk a lot, and the Android low memory
killer driver was finally deleted, much to the celebration of the -mm
developers.
All of these have been in linux-next with a few build issues that will
show up when you merge to your tree"
Merge conflicts in the new rtl8723bs driver (due to the wifi changes
this merge window) handled as per linux-next, courtesy of Stephen

Despite the user payload may not be bigger than (2**16 - 1) bytes, the
final packet size may be bigger because of the gap space needed for the
controller.
This patch removes the temporary variables of the type u16 that are used
to hold the offsets that may be bigger than 2**16 bytes.

The final size of the buffer used for the streaming transfer consists of
the size for the user payload (buffer_size) and the size for the gaps
needed by the controller (extra_len).
The current implementation of the hdm_configure_channel() corrects the
buffer size down to the next appropriate for the hardware value, that is
the whole number of frames, but uses the old unaligned value to
calculate the extra_len.
Current patch fixes the described problem.

When a channel is being removed while an application holds the
corresponding character device, this device is going to be destroyed only
after the application closes the file descriptor and releases character
device. In case the channel appears again before the application closes the
file descriptor it holds, the channel cannot be linked.
This patch changes the described behavior and destroys the character
device at the time the channel get disconnected from the AIM.

Currently an AIM has the following properties available to manage links:
- write-only "remove_link" used to remove a link from a list
- read/write "add_link" used to add a link to a list and display them
This patch transfers the read functionality of "add_link" to the new
read-only property "links" to build consistent set of properties to control
the list of links.

dma_buf is being cast to __le16 *, but it was defined as u16 *.

Fix checkpatch warnings regarding the use of symbolic permissions.
Where the MOST_CHANNEL_ATTR macro is used, convert to octal
permissions over symbolic.
Where _ATTR is used directly, replace with _ATTR_RW/_ATTR_WO and
update the show/store function names appropriately.

This patch puts the synchronization procedure trigger for asynchronous
channels into the function hdm_configure_channel. Likewise, it removes
triggering of hardware specific synchronization for other channel types
from the probe function as it is not required.

This patch fixes an MBO leak by replacing the proprietary
free_anchored_buffers() function with the usb_kill_anchored_urbs() function
of the USB subsystem and guarantees that the mbo->complete() completion
function is being called for each URB.

In case the networking interface goes down and up again, the USB HDM does
not report the state the MOST networking interface controller is in. This
might lead to nonfunctional network.
Since the networking AIM already takes care of hardware address checking
and tracing it can be removed from the HDM USB, which is what this patch is
doing.
