The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from
emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve
here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first
step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already
returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is
renamed to .remove().
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

The dead code removal has led to 'need_transceiver' not being
used at all when OTG support is disabled:

After the removal of the unused board files, I went through the
omap1 code to look for code that no longer has any callers
and remove that.
In particular, support for the omap7xx/omap8xx family is now
completely unused, so I'm only leaving omap15xx/omap16xx/omap59xx.

Drivers are typically supposed to be quiet unless they are actually
probed, but for some reason, USB host controllers seem to be exempt from
this rule, and happily broadcast their existence into the kernel log at
boot even if the hardware in question is nowhere to be found.
Let's fix that, and remove these pr_info() calls.

"Here is the "big" set of USB and Thunderbolt driver changes for
5.18-rc1. For the most part it's been a quiet development cycle for
the USB core, but there are the usual "hot spots" of development
activity.
Included in here are:
- Thunderbolt driver updates:
- fixes for devices without displayport adapters
- lane bonding support and improvements
- other minor changes based on device testing
- dwc3 gadget driver changes.
It seems this driver will never be finished given that the IP core
is showing up in zillions of new devices and each implementation
decides to do something different with it...

this hardware as well
- usb_maxpacket() api changes to remove an unneeded and unused
parameter.
- usb-serial driver device id updates and small cleanups

The driver, OMAP1 specific, now omits clk_prepare/unprepare() steps, not
supported by OMAP1 custom implementation of clock API. However, non-CCF
stubs of those functions exist for use on such platforms until converted
to CCF.
Update the driver to be compatible with CCF implementation of clock API.

The omap usb drivers still rely on mach/*.h headers that
are explicitly or implicitly included, but all the required
definitions are now in include/linux/soc/ti/, so use those
instead and allow compile-testing on other architectures.

The register definitions in this header are used in at least four
different places, with little hope of completely cleaning that up.
Split up the file into a portion that becomes a linux-wide header
under include/linux/soc/ti/, and the parts that are actually only
needed by board files.

Commit 38225f2ef2f4 ("ARM/omap1: switch to use dma_direct_set_offset for
lbus DMA offsets") removed a lot of mach/memory.h, but left the USB
offset handling split into arch/arm/mach-omap1/usb.c and
drivers/usb/host/ohci-omap.c.
This can cause a randconfig build warning that now fails the build
with -Werror:

There were a bunch of issues with the patch converting the
OMAP1 OSK board to use descriptors for controlling the USB
host:
- The chip label was incorrect
- The GPIO offset was off-by-one
- The code should use sleeping accessors
This patch tries to fix all issues at the same time.

The usage of in_interrupt() in drivers is phased out for various reasons.
Various comments use !in_interrupt() to describe calling context for probe()
and remove() functions. That's wrong because the calling context has to be
preemptible task context, which is not what !in_interrupt() describes.
Cleanup the comments. While at it add the missing kernel doc argument
descriptors.

The OMAP1 OHCI driver is using the legacy GPIO API to grab some
random GPIO lines. One is from the TPS65010 chip and used for
power, another one is for overcurrent and while the driver picks
this line it doesn't watch it at all.
Convert the driver and the OMAP1 OSK board file to pass these
two GPIOs as machine described GPIO descriptors.
I noticed the overcurrent GPIO line is not really used in the
code so dropped in a little comment for other developers.

which is uncommon and does not scale. Create a private data
struct and use that to hold the clocks.

The USB HCD core driver parses the device-tree node for "phys" and
"usb-phys" properties. It also manages the power state of these PHYs
automatically.
However, drivers may opt-out of this behavior by setting "phy" or
"usb_phy" in struct usb_hcd to a non-null value. An example where this
is required is the "Qualcomm USB2 controller", implemented by the
chipidea driver. The hardware requires that the PHY is only powered on
after the "reset completed" event from the controller is received.
A follow-up patch will allow the USB HCD core driver to manage more than
one PHY. Add a new "skip_phy_initialization" bitflag to struct usb_hcd
so drivers can opt-out of any PHY management provided by the USB HCD
core driver.
This also updates the existing drivers so they use the new flag if they
want to opt out of the PHY management provided by the USB HCD core
driver. This means that for these drivers the new "multiple PHY"
handling (which will be added in a follow-up patch) will be disabled as
well.

It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to
audit the kernel tree for correct licenses.
Update the drivers/usb/ and include/linux/usb* files with the correct
SPDX license identifier based on the license text in the file itself.
The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used
instead of the full boiler plate text.

Defer probe if PHY is missing. E.g. on Nokia 770 several modules needs
to be loaded to get the PHY going and ohci-omap should wait for those.

The ohci_hcd_omap_drv_probe and ohci_hcd_omap_drv_remove
functions are removed as these are useless functions except calling
usb_hcd_omap_probe and usb_hcd_omap_remove functions.
The usb_hcd_omap_probe function renamed to ohci_hcd_omap_probe
and usb_hcd_omap_remove function renamed to ohci_hcd_omap_remove
for proper naming.

commit e47d925 (usb: move the OTG state
from the USB PHY to the OTG structure) moved
the OTG state field from struct usb_phy to
struct usb_otg but, even though I fixed many
other build breakages, I still missed one
on ohci-omap.c.

Before using the PHY framework instead of the USB PHY one, we need to
move the OTG state into another place, since it won't be available when
USB PHY isn't used. This patch moves the OTG state into the OTG
structure, and makes all the needed modifications in the drivers
using the OTG state.

USB hub has started to use a workqueue instead of kthread. Let's update
the documentation and comments here and there.
This patch mostly just replaces "khubd" with "hub_wq". There are only few
exceptions where the whole sentence was updated. These more complicated

Individual controller driver has different requirement for wakeup
setting, so move it from core to itself. In order to align with
current etting the default wakeup setting is enabled (except for
chipidea host).

Suspend scenario in case of ohci-omap glue was not
properly handled as it was not suspending generic part
of ohci controller. Alan Stern suggested, properly handle
ohci-omap suspend scenario.
Calling explicitly the ohci_suspend() routine in
ohci_omap_suspend() will ensure proper handling of suspend
scenario.

Merge ohci_finish_controller_resume with ohci_resume as suggested by Alan
Stern. Since ohci_finish_controller_resume no longer exists, update the
various OHCI drivers to call ohci_resume() instead. Some drivers used to set
themselves the bit HCD_FLAG_HW_ACCESSIBLE, which is now handled by
ohci_resume().

There's no need to have this file in plat/fpga.h. We can
make it local to plat-omap replacing fpga_read/write
functions directly with readb/writeb as that's how
they are already defined in fpga.h.
Note that 2420 based H4 is also using the fpga, so let's
keep the led support around in plat-omap until we flip
over mach-omap2 to device tree.

and will be removing the old mux framework. This will remove the

Commit c2e935a7d "USB: move transceiver from ehci_hcd and ohci_hcd to
hcd and rename it as phy" removed the last use of the "ohci" variable
in the usb_hcd_omap_remove function, but left the variable in place
unused.
Without this patch, building omap1_defconfig results in:

We are starting to support multiple USB phys as
we should thanks for Kishon's work. DeviceTree support
for USB PHYs won't come until discussion with DeviceTree
maintainer is finished.
Together with that series, we have one fix for twl4030
which missed a IRQF_ONESHOT annotation when requesting
a threaded IRQ without a top half handler, and removal
of an unused variable compilation warning to isp1301_omap.

usb_get_phy will return -ENODEV if it's not able to find the phy. Hence
fixed all the callers of usb_get_phy to check for this error condition
instead of relying on a non-zero value as success condition.

Add a linked list for keeping multiple PHY instances with different
types so that we can have separate USB2 and USB3 PHYs on one single
board. _get_phy_ has been changed so that the controller gets
the transceiver by type. _remove_phy_ has been added to let the phy
be removed from the phy list.

_transceiver() in otg.c is replaced with _phy. usb_set_transceiver is
replaced with usb_add_phy to make it similar to other usb standard
function names like usb_add_hcd.

As the FS USB code is not being actively used for omap2+
there's no point keeping it around for omap2+.
Let's make the FS USB platform init code omap1 only so
we can remove the last user of omap_read/write for omap2+,
and simplify things for further USB, DMA, and device tree
related work.
While at it, also group the mach includes for the related
drivers.

"Here is the big USB 3.5-rc1 pull request for the 3.5-rc1 merge window.
It's touches a lot of different parts of the kernel, all USB drivers,
due to some API cleanups (getting rid of the ancient err() macro) and
some changes that are needed for USB 3.0 power management updates.
There are also lots of new drivers, pimarily gadget, but others as
well. We deleted a staging driver, which was nice, and finally
dropped the obsolete usbfs code, which will make Al happy to never
have to touch that again.
There were some build errors in the tree that linux-next found a few
days ago, but those were fixed by the most recent changes (all were
due to us not building with CONFIG_PM disabled.)

Currently usb_put_transceiver calls put_device so this is a no-op but it
is better to keep API usage consistent as ohci->transceiver is allocated
with usb_get_transceiver.
While at there remove one extra ohci->transceiver test as the code block
has already tested it.

The OMAP1 OHCI driver needs to enable the OCPI IP block before it can
work. Previously, the driver was simply calling a symbol defined in
the OMAP platform code, but this is incorrect: drivers should be fully
decoupled from platform and architecture code.
So instead, modify the driver to call through a platform_data function
pointer instead. We skip any DT aspect, since OMAP1 is not scheduled
to be converted to DT in the near future.
This resolves the following sparse warning:
It also gets rid of a cpu_is_omap16xx() call in a driver.
In the long term, it probably makes sense to move the OCPI bus code to
somewhere under drivers/. This should avoid the whole platform_data/DT
issue with this function.
