Pull USB / Thunderbolt updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big set of USB and Thunderbolt changes for 6.9-rc1. Lots
of tiny changes and forward progress to support new hardware and
better support for existing devices. Included in here are:
- Thunderbolt (i.e. USB4) updates for newer hardware and uses as more
people start to use the hardware
- default USB authentication mode Kconfig and documentation update to
make it more obvious what is going on
- USB typec updates and enhancements
- usual dwc3 driver updates
- usual xhci driver updates
- function USB (i.e. gadget) driver updates and additions
- new device ids for lots of drivers
- loads of other small updates, full details in the shortlog
All of these, including a "last minute regression fix" have been in
linux-next with no reported issues"

Register SOP' alternate modes with a Type-C Connector Class cable plug.
Alternate modes are queried from the PPM using the GET_ALTERNATE_MODES
command with recipient set to SOP'.

Register SOP and SOP' Discover Identity responses with the USB Type-C
Connector Class as partner and cable identities, respectively. Discover
Identity responses are requested from the PPM using the GET_PD_MESSAGE
UCSI command.

On SM8550 and SM8650 Qualcomm platforms a call to UCSI_GET_PDOS for
non-PD partners will cause a firmware crash with no
easy way to recover from it.
Add UCSI_NO_PARTNER_PDOS quirk for those platform until we find
a way to properly handle the crash.

PD major revision for the port partner is described in
GET_CONNECTOR_CAPABILITY and is only valid on UCSI 2.0 and newer. Update
the pd_revision on the partner if the UCSI version is 2.0 or newer.

Between UCSI 1.2 and UCSI 2.0, the size of the MESSAGE_IN region was
increased from 16 to 256. In order to avoid overflowing reads for older
systems, add a mechanism to use the read UCSI version to truncate read
sizes on UCSI v1.2.

The PPM on some Dell laptops seems to expect that the ACK_CC_CI
command to clear the connector change notification is in turn
followed by another ACK_CC_CI to acknowledge the ACK_CC_CI command
itself. This is in violation of the UCSI spec that states:
"The only notification that is not acknowledged by the OPM is
the command completion notification for the ACK_CC_CI or the
PPM_RESET command."
Add a quirk to send this ack anyway.
Apply the quirk to all Dell systems.
On the first command that acks a connector change send a dummy
command to determine if it runs into a timeout. Only activate
the quirk if it does. This ensure that we do not break Dell
systems that do not need the quirk.

In case of a spurious or otherwise delayed notification it is
possible that CCI still reports the previous completion. The
UCSI spec is aware of this and provides two completion bits in
CCI, one for normal commands and one for acks. As acks and commands
alternate the notification handler can determine if the completion
bit is from the current command.
The initial UCSI code correctly handled this but the distinction
between the two completion bits was lost with the introduction of
the new API.
To fix this revive the ACK_PENDING bit for ucsi_acpi and only complete
commands if the completion bit matches.

Calling ->sync_write must be done while holding the PPM lock as
the mailbox logic does not support concurrent commands.
At least since the addition of partner task this means that
ucsi_acknowledge_connector_change should be called with the
PPM lock held as it calls ->sync_write.
Thus protect the only call to ucsi_acknowledge_connector_change
with the PPM. All other calls to ->sync_write already happen
under the PPM lock.

With the Cypress CCGx Type-C controller the following error is
sometimes observed on boot:
[ 16.087147] ucsi_ccg 1-0008: failed to reset PPM!
[ 16.087319] ucsi_ccg 1-0008: PPM init failed (-110)
When the above timeout occurs the following happens:
1. The function ucsi_reset_ppm() is called to reset UCSI controller.
This function performs an async write to start reset and then
polls for completion.
2. An interrupt occurs when the reset completes. In the interrupt
handler, the OPM field in the INTR_REG is cleared and this clears
the CCI data in the PPM. Hence, the reset completion status is
cleared.
3. The function ucsi_reset_ppm() continues to poll for the reset
completion, but has missed the reset completion event and
eventually timeouts.
In this patch, we store CCI when handling the interrupt and make
reading after async write gets the correct value.
To align with the CCGx UCSI interface guide, this patch updates the
driver to copy CCI and MESSAGE_IN before they are reset when UCSI
interrupt acknowledged.
When a new command is sent, the driver will clear the old CCI to avoid
ucsi_ccg_read() getting wrong CCI after ucsi_ccg_async_write() when
the UCSI interrupt is not handled.
Finally, acking the UCSI_READ_INT interrupt before calling complete()
in ISR to ensure that the ucsi_ccg_sync_write() would wait for the
interrupt handling to complete.

Pull SoC driver updates from Arnd Bergmann:
"A new drivers/cache/ subsystem is added to contain drivers for
abstracting cache flush methods on riscv and potentially others, as
this is needed for handling non-coherent DMA but several SoCs require
nonstandard hardware methods for it.
op-tee gains support for asynchronous notification with FF-A, as well
as support for a system thread for executing in secure world.
The tee, reset, bus, memory and scmi subsystems have a couple of minor
updates.
Platform specific soc driver changes include:
- Samsung Exynos gains driver support for Google GS101 (Tensor G1)
across multiple subsystems
- Qualcomm Snapdragon gains support for SM8650 and X1E along with
added features for some other SoCs
- Mediatek adds support for "Smart Voltage Scaling" on MT8186 and
MT8195, and driver support for MT8188 along with some code
refactoring.
- Microchip Polarfire FPGA support for "Auto Update" of the FPGA
bitstream
- Apple M1 mailbox driver is rewritten into a SoC driver
- minor updates on amlogic, mvebu, ti, zynq, imx, renesas and
hisilicon"

Fix the recently added connector sanity check which was off by one and
prevented orientation notifications from being handled correctly for the
second port when using GPIOs to determine orientation.

On sevral Qualcomm platforms (SC8180X, SM8350, SC8280XP) a call to
UCSI_GET_PDOS for non-PD partners will cause a firmware crash with no
easy way to recover from it. Since we have no easy way to determine
whether the partner really has PD support, shortcut UCSI_GET_PDOS on
such platforms. This allows us to enable UCSI support on such devices.

On some OEM systems, adding a W7900 dGPU triggers RAS errors and hangs
at a black screen on startup. This issue occurs only if `ucsi_acpi` has
loaded before `amdgpu` has loaded. The reason for this failure is that
`amdgpu` uses power_supply_is_system_supplied() to determine if running
on AC or DC power at startup. If this value is reported incorrectly the
dGPU will also be programmed incorrectly and trigger errors.
power_supply_is_system_supplied() reports the wrong value because UCSI
power supplies provided as part of the system don't properly report the
scope as "DEVICE" scope (not powering the system).
In order to fix this issue check the capabilities reported from the UCSI
power supply to ensure that it supports charging a battery and that it can
be powered by AC. Mark the scope accordingly.

The link between the partner device and its USB Power
Delivery instance was never removed which prevented the
device from being released. Removing the link always when
the partner is unregistered.

On SM8550, the non-altmode orientation is not given anymore within
altmode events, even with USB SVIDs events.
On the other side, the Type-C connector orientation is correctly
reported by a signal from the PMIC.
Take this gpio signal when we detect some Type-C port activity
to notify any Type-C switches tied to the Type-C port connectors.

Currently if ucsi_send_command() fails, then we bail out without
clearing EVENT_PENDING flag. So when the next connector change
event comes, ucsi_connector_change() won't queue the con->work,
because of which none of the new events will be processed.
Fix this by clearing EVENT_PENDING flag if ucsi_send_command()
fails.

Displayport Alternate mode 2.1 requires configuration for additional
cable details such as signalling for cable, UHBR13.5 Support, Cable type
and DPAM version.
These details can be used with mux drivers to configure SOP DP
configuration for Displayport Alternate mode 2.1.
This change also includes pertinent cable signalling support in displayport
alternate mode.

Add support for UCSI commands through the following debugfs:
# /sys/kernel/debug/usb/ucsi/$UCSI_DEVICE/command
# /sys/kernel/debug/usb/ucsi/$UCSI_DEVICE/response
Eg: To execute UCSI GetCapabilities:
# echo 0x6 > /sys/kernel/debug/usb/ucsi/<ucsi device>/command
Then read the result,
# cat /sys/kernel/debug/usb/ucsi/<ucsi device>/response
0x02000320000000020000ff0400000445
UCSI command will be written into the command file and the
response for the command can be viewed under the response file.

The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate
of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus.
As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h
and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include
files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and
replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to
explicitly include the correct includes.

ucsi_unregister_partner()
It's better to set TYPEC_STATE_SAFE mode from ucsi_unregister_partner()
instead of ucsi_partner_change(), ucsi_unregister_partner() is always
when the partner disconnects.

Add support for calling typec_set_mode() for the DEBUG, AUDIO
accessory modes.
Let's also call typec_set_mode() for USB as default and SAFE
when partner is disconnected.
The USB state is only called when ALT mode is specifically
not specified by the partner status flags in order
to leave the altmode handlers setup the proper mode to
switches, muxes and retimers.

power_supply_is_system_supplied() checks whether any power
supplies are present that aren't batteries to decide whether
the system is running on DC or AC. Downstream drivers use
this to make performance decisions.
Navi dGPUs include an UCSI function that has been exported
since commit 17631e8ca2d3 ("i2c: designware: Add driver
support for AMD NAVI GPU").
This UCSI function registers a power supply since commit
992a60ed0d5e ("usb: typec: ucsi: register with power_supply class")
but this is not a system power supply.
As the power supply for a dGPU is only for powering devices connected
to dGPU, create a device property to indicate that the UCSI endpoint
is only for the scope of `POWER_SUPPLY_SCOPE_DEVICE`.

After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new()
call-back type"), all drivers being converted to .probe_new() and then
03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter") convert
back to (the new) .probe() to be able to eventually drop .probe_new() from
struct i2c_driver.
While touching hd3ss3220.c fix a minor white space issue in the
definition of struct hd3ss3220_driver.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from
emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve
here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first
step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already
returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is
renamed to .remove().
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

ucsi_init() may be deferred as usb_role_sw may be deferred in
ucsi_register_port(). This results in several PPM init failed (-517)

On some ACPI platforms (namely the ASUS Zenbook UM325) the _DSM method must
not be called after a notification is received but instead the mailbox
should be read immediately from RAM. This is because the ACPI interrupt
handler destroys the CCI in ERAM after copying to system memory, and when
_DSM is later called to perform a second copy, it retrieves a garbage
value.
Instead, the _DSM(read) method should only be called when necessary, i.e.
for polling the state after reset and for retrieving the version. Other
reads should not call _DSM and only peek into the RAM region.
This adds a separate read operation for the Zenbook that syncs the
ACPI mailbox only with polled commands.

Introduce the UCSI PMIC Glink aux driver that communicates
with the aDSP firmware with the UCSI protocol which handles
the USB-C Port(s) Power Delivery.
The UCSI messaging is necessary on newer Qualcomm SoCs to
provide USB role switch and altmode notifications.

Commit 130a96d698d7 ("usb: typec: ucsi: acpi: Increase command
completion timeout value") increased the timeout from 5 seconds
to 60 seconds due to issues related to alternate mode discovery.
After the alternate mode discovery switch to polled mode
the timeout was reduced, but instead of being set back to
5 seconds it was reduced to 1 second.
This is causing problems when using a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 yoga gen7
connected over Type-C to a LG 27UL850-W (charging DP over Type-C).
When the monitor is already connected at boot the following error
is logged: "PPM init failed (-110)", /sys/class/typec is empty and
on unplugging the NULL pointer deref fixed earlier in this series
happens.
When the monitor is connected after boot the following error
is logged instead: "GET_CONNECTOR_STATUS failed (-110)".
Setting the timeout back to 5 seconds fixes both cases.

ucsi_init() which runs from a workqueue sets ucsi->connector and
on an error will clear it again.
ucsi->connector gets dereferenced by ucsi_resume(), this checks for
ucsi->connector being NULL in case ucsi_init() has not finished yet;
or in case ucsi_init() has failed.
ucsi_init() setting ucsi->connector and then clearing it again on
an error creates a race where the check in ucsi_resume() may pass,
only to have ucsi->connector free-ed underneath it when ucsi_init()
hits an error.
Fix this race by making ucsi_init() store the connector array in
a local variable and only assign it to ucsi->connector on success.

When ucsi_init() fails, ucsi->connector is NULL, yet in case of
ucsi_acpi we may still get events which cause the ucs_acpi code to call
ucsi_connector_change(), which then derefs the NULL ucsi->connector
pointer.
Fix this by not setting ucsi->ntfy inside ucsi_init() until ucsi_init()
has succeeded, so that ucsi_connector_change() ignores the events
because UCSI_ENABLE_NTFY_CONNECTOR_CHANGE is not set in the ntfy mask.

Add device-tree support for the Cypress CCG UCSI driver. The device-tree
binding for the Cypress CCG device uses the standard device-tree
'firmware-name' string property to indicate the firmware build that is
used.
The NVIDIA GPU I2C driver has been updated to use an ACPI string
property that is also named 'firmware-build' and given that this was the
only users of the 'ccgx,firmware-build' property, we can now remove
support for this legacy property.

During ucsi_unregister() when destroying a connector's workqueue, there
may still be pending delayed work items that haven't been scheduled yet.
Because queue_delayed_work() uses a separate timer to schedule a work
item, the destroy_workqueue() call is not aware of any pending items.
Hence when a pending item's timer expires it would then try to queue on
a dangling workqueue pointer.
Fix this by keeping track of all work items in a list, so that prior to
destroying the workqueue any pending items can be flushed. Do this by
calling mod_delayed_work() as that will cause pending items to get
queued immediately, which then allows the ensuing destroy_workqueue() to
implicitly drain all currently queued items to completion and free
themselves.
