2020-04-16net: mvpp2: add port support helpersRussell King
The mvpp2 code has tests scattered amongst the code to determine whether the port supports the XLG, and whether the port supports RGMII mode. Rather than having these tests scattered, provide a couple of helper functions, so that future additions can ensure that they get these tests correct. 2020-04-16net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: fix vlan setupRussell King
DSA assumes that a bridge which has vlan filtering disabled is not vlan aware, and ignores all vlan configuration. However, the kernel software bridge code allows configuration in this state. This causes the kernel's idea of the bridge vlan state and the hardware state to disagree, so "bridge vlan show" indicates a correct configuration but the hardware lacks all configuration. Even worse, enabling vlan filtering on a DSA bridge immediately blocks all traffic which, given the output of "bridge vlan show", is very confusing. Provide an option that drivers can set to indicate they want to receive vlan configuration even when vlan filtering is disabled. This is safe for Marvell DSA bridges, which do not look up ingress traffic in the VTU if the port is in 8021Q disabled state. Whether this change is suitable for all DSA bridges is not known. 2020-04-16net: sfp: display SFP module information [*not for mainline*]Russell King
Display SFP module information verbosely, splitting the generic parts into a separate file. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2020-04-16net: sfp: add sfp+ compatible [*not for mainline*]Russell King
Add a compatible for SFP+ cages. SFP+ cages are backwards compatible, but the ethernet device behind them may not support the slower speeds of SFP modules. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-16net: sfp: add debugfs supportRussell King
Add debugfs support to SFP so that the internal state of the SFP state machines and hardware signal state can be viewed from userspace, rather than having to compile a debug kernel to view state state transitions in the kernel log. The 'state' output looks like: Module state: empty Module probe attempts: 0 0 Device state: up Main state: down Fault recovery remaining retries: 5 PHY probe remaining retries: 12 moddef0: 0 rx_los: 1 tx_fault: 1 tx_disable: 1 Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-16net: sfp: add support for cooled SFP+ transceiversRussell King
Cooled SFP+ transceivers need a longer initialisation (startup) time. Select the initialisation time depending on the cooled option bit. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-16net: phy: make phy_error() report which PHY has failedRussell King
phy_error() is called from phy_interrupt() or phy_state_machine(), and uses WARN_ON() to print a backtrace. The backtrace is not useful when reporting a PHY error. However, a system may contain multiple ethernet PHYs, and phy_error() gives no clue which one caused the problem. Replace WARN_ON() with a call to phydev_err() so that we can see which PHY had an error, and also inform the user that we are halting the PHY. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-16net: phy: marvell10g: allow PHY to probe without firmwareRussell King
Allow the PHY to probe when there is no firmware, but do not allow the link to come up by forcing the PHY state to PHY_HALTED in a similar way to phy_error(). Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-16net: phy: provide phy driver start/stop hooksRussell King
Provide phy driver start/stop hooks so that the PHY driver knows when the network driver is starting or stopping. This will be used for the Marvell 10G driver so that we can sanely refuse to start if the PHYs firmware is not present, and also so that we can sanely support SFPs behind the PHY. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-16net: phy: marvell*: add support for hw resolved pause modesRussell King
Support reporting the hardware resolved pause enablement states via phylib, overriding our software implementation. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-16net: phy: add resolved pause supportRussell King
Allow phylib drivers to pass the hardware-resolved pause state to MAC drivers, rather than using the software-based pause resolution code. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-16net: phy: marvell10g: add support for configuring LEDsRussell King
Add support for configuring the LEDs. Macchiatobin has an oddity in that the left LED goes out when the cable is connected, and flashes when there's link activity. This is because the reset default for the LED outputs assume that the LED is connected to supply, not to ground. Add support for configuring the LED modes and polarities. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-15net: phy: marvell10g: add downshift tunable supportRussell King
Add support for the downshift tunable for the Marvell 88x3310 PHY. Downshift is only usable with firmware 0.3.5.0 and later. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-15net: marvell10g: soft-reset the PHY when coming out of low powerRussell King
Soft-reset the PHY when coming out of low power mode, which seems to be necessary with firmware versions 0.3.3.0 and 0.3.10.0. 2020-04-02net: phylink: add separate pcs operations structureRussell King
Add a separate set of PCS operations, which MAC drivers can use to couple phylink with their associated MAC PCS layer. The PCS operations include: - pcs_get_state() - reads the link up/down, resolved speed, duplex and pause from the PCS. - pcs_config() - configures the PCS for the specified mode, PHY interface type, and setting the advertisement. - pcs_an_restart() - restarts 802.3 in-band negotiation with the link partner - pcs_link_up() - informs the PCS that link has come up, and the parameters of the link. Link parameters are used to program the PCS for fixed speed and non-inband modes. 2020-04-02net: phylink: pcs: add 802.3 clause 45 helpersRussell King
Implement helpers for PCS accessed via the MII bus using 802.3 clause 45 cycles for 10GBASE-R. Only link up/down is supported, 10G full duplex is assumed. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-02net: phylink: pcs: add 802.3 clause 22 helpersRussell King
Implement helpers for PCS accessed via the MII bus using 802.3 clause 22 cycles, conforming to 802.3 clause 37 and Cisco SGMII specifications for the advertisement word. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-02net: mdiobus: add APIs for modifying a MDIO device registerRussell King
Add APIs for modifying a MDIO device register, similar to the existing phy_modify() group of functions, but at mdiobus level instead. Adapt __phy_modify_changed() to use the new mdiobus level helper. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-02net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: use PHY_DETECT in mac_link_up/mac_link_downRussell King
Use the status of the PHY_DETECT bit to determine whether we need to force the MAC settings in mac_link_up() and mac_link_down(). Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-02net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: remove port_link_state functionsRussell King
The port_link_state method is only used by mv88e6xxx_port_setup_mac(), which is now only called during port setup, rather than also being called via phylink's mac_config method. Remove this now unnecessary optimisation, which allows us to remove the port_link_state methods as well. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-02net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: combine port_set_speed and port_set_duplexRussell King
Setting the speed independently of duplex makes little sense; the two parameters result from negotiation or fixed setup, and may have inter- dependencies. Moreover, they are always controlled via the same register - having them split means we have to read-modify-write this register twice. Combine the two operations into a single port_set_speed_duplex() operation. Not only is this more efficient, it reduces the size of the code as well. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-02net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: fix Serdes link changesRussell King
phylink_mac_change() is supposed to be called with a 'false' argument if the link has gone down since it was last reported up; this is to ensure that link events along with renegotiation events are always correctly reported to userspace. Read the BMSR once when we have an interrupt, and report the link latched status to phylink via phylink_mac_change(). phylink will deal automatically with re-reading the link state once it has processed the link-down event. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-04-02net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: extend phylink to Serdes PHYsRussell King
Extend the mv88e6xxx phylink implementation down to Serdes PHYs, which handle the PCS layer of such links. - Implement phylink PCS link state reading, so that we can provide ethtool with the linkmodes and link speed in the expected manner. Note: this will only be called for in-band negotiation, which is only supported by the serdes interfaces. - Implement phylink PCS configuration, so that the in-band AN and advertisement can be configured. - Implement phylink PCS negotiation restart, so that the in-band AN can be restarted. - Implement phylink PCS link up, so that when operating out-of-band, the Serdes can be configured for the appropriate fixed speed mode. 2020-04-02net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: use BMCR definitions for serdes control registerRussell King
The SGMII/1000base-X serdes register set is a clause 22 register set offset at 0x2000 in the PHYXS device. Rather than inventing our own defintions, use those that already exist, and name the register MV88E6390_SGMII_BMCR. Also remove the unused MV88E6390_SGMII_STATUS definitions. 2020-03-30net: phylink: propagate resolved link config via mac_link_up()Russell King
Propagate the resolved link parameters via the mac_link_up() call for MACs that do not automatically track their PCS state. We propagate the link parameters via function arguments so that inappropriate members of struct phylink_link_state can't be accessed, and creating a new structure just for this adds needless complexity to the API. 2020-03-30net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: fix duplicate vlan warningRussell King
When setting VLANs on DSA switches, the VLAN is added to both the port concerned as well as the CPU port by dsa_slave_vlan_add(), as well as any DSA ports. 2020-03-30net: phylink: improve initial mac configurationRussell King
Improve the initial MAC configuration so we get a configuration which more represents the final operating mode, in particular with respect to the flow control settings. We do this by: 1) more fully initialising our phy state, so we can use this as the initial state for PHY based connections. 2) reading the fixed link state. 3) ensuring that in-band mode has sane pause settings for SGMII vs 802.3z negotiation modes. In all three cases, we ensure that state->link is false, just in case any MAC drivers have other ideas by mis-using this member, and we also take account of manual pause mode configuration at this point. This avoids MLO_PAUSE_AN being seen in mac_config() when operating in PHY, fixed mode or inband SGMII mode, thereby giving cleaner semantics to the pause flags. As a result of this, the pause flags now indicate in a mode-independent way what is required from a mac_config() implementation. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-03-30net: phylink: allow ethtool -A to change flow control advertisementRussell King
When ethtool -A is used to change the pause modes, the pause advertisement is not being changed, but the documentation in uapi/linux/ethtool.h says we should be. Add that capability to phylink. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-03-30net: phylink: resolve fixed link flow controlRussell King
Resolve the fixed link flow control using the recently introduced linkmode_resolve_pause() helper, which we use in phylink_get_fixed_state() only when operating in full duplex mode. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>
2020-03-30net: phylink: use phylib resolved flow control modesRussell King
