2014-02-02hpfs: remember free spaceMikulas Patocka
Previously, hpfs scanned all bitmaps each time the user asked for free space using statfs. This patch changes it so that hpfs scans the bitmaps only once, remembes the free space and on next invocation of statfs it returns the value instantly. New versions of wine are hammering on the statfs syscall very heavily, making some games unplayable when they're stored on hpfs, with load times in minutes. This should be backported to the stable kernels because it fixes user-visible problem (excessive level load times in wine). 2011-07-20fs: push i_mutex and filemap_write_and_wait down into ->fsync() handlersJosef Bacik
Btrfs needs to be able to control how filemap_write_and_wait_range() is called in fsync to make it less of a painful operation, so push down taking i_mutex and the calling of filemap_write_and_wait() down into the ->fsync() handlers. Some file systems can drop taking the i_mutex altogether it seems, like ext3 and ocfs2. For correctness sake I just pushed everything down in all cases to make sure that we keep the current behavior the same for everybody, and then each individual fs maintainer can make up their mind about what to do from there. 2011-03-02hpfs: remove the BKLArnd Bergmann
This removes the BKL in hpfs in a rather awful way, by making the code only work on uniprocessor systems without kernel preemption, as suggested by Andi Kleen. The HPFS code probably has close to zero remaining users on current kernels, all archeological uses of the file system can probably be done with the significant restrictions. The hpfs_lock/hpfs_unlock functions are left in the code, sincen Mikulas has indicated that he is still interested in fixing it in a better way. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
