2017-02-01sched/cputime: Convert kcpustat to nsecsFrederic Weisbecker
Kernel CPU stats are stored in cputime_t which is an architecture defined type, and hence a bit opaque and requiring accessors and mutators for any operation. Converting them to nsecs simplifies the code and is one step toward the removal of cputime_t in the core code. 2014-03-13cputime: Default implementation of nsecs -> cputime conversionFrederic Weisbecker
The architectures that override cputime_t (s390, ppc) don't provide any version of nsecs_to_cputime(). Indeed this cputime_t implementation by backend only happens when CONFIG_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING_NATIVE=y under which the core code doesn't make any use of nsecs_to_cputime(). At least for now. We are going to make a broader use of it so lets provide a default version with a per usecs granularity. It should be good enough for most usecases. 2014-01-23fs/proc: don't use module_init for non-modular core codePaul Gortmaker
PROC_FS is a bool, so this code is either present or absent. It will never be modular, so using module_init as an alias for __initcall is rather misleading. Fix this up now, so that we can relocate module_init from init.h into module.h in the future. If we don't do this, we'd have to add module.h to obviously non-modular code, and that would be ugly at best. Note that direct use of __initcall is discouraged, vs. one of the priority categorized subgroups. As __initcall gets mapped onto device_initcall, our use of fs_initcall (which makes sense for fs code) will thus change these registrations from level 6-device to level 5-fs (i.e. slightly earlier). However no observable impact of that small difference has been observed during testing, or is expected. Also note that this change uncovers a missing semicolon bug in the registration of vmcore_init as an initcall. 2013-07-03fs/proc/uptime.c:uptime_proc_show(): use get_monotonic_boottime()Oleg Nesterov
Change uptime_proc_show() to use get_monotonic_boottime() instead of do_posix_clock_monotonic_gettime() + monotonic_to_bootbased(). Signed-off-by: Oleg Nesterov <oleg@redhat.com> Cc: "Eric W. 2011-12-15[S390] fix cputime overflow in uptime_proc_showMartin Schwidefsky
For 32-bit architectures using standard jiffies the idletime calculation in uptime_proc_show will quickly overflow. It takes (2^32 / HZ) seconds of idle-time, or e.g. 12.45 days with no load on a quad-core with HZ=1000. Switch to 64-bit calculations. 2011-12-15[S390] cputime: add sparse checking and cleanupMartin Schwidefsky
Make cputime_t and cputime64_t nocast to enable sparse checking to detect incorrect use of cputime. Drop the cputime macros for simple scalar operations. The conversion macros are still needed. Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2011-12-06sched/accounting: Change cpustat fields to an arrayGlauber Costa
This patch changes fields in cpustat from a structure, to an u64 array. Math gets easier, and the code is more flexible. 2009-09-24[PATCH] Fix idle time field in /proc/uptimeMichael Abbott
Git commit 79741dd changes idle cputime accounting, but unfortunately the /proc/uptime file hasn't caught up. Here the idle time calculation from /proc/stat is copied over. Signed-off-by: Michael Abbott <michael.abbott@diamond.ac.uk> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2009-03-31Revert "proc: revert /proc/uptime to ->read_proc hook"Alexey Dobriyan
This reverts commit 6c87df37dcb9c6c33923707fa5191e0a65874d60. proc files implemented through seq_file do pread(2) now. Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com>
2008-10-27proc: revert /proc/uptime to ->read_proc hookAlexey Dobriyan
Turned out some VMware userspace does pread(2) on /proc/uptime, but seqfiles currently don't allow pread() resulting in -ESPIPE. Seqfiles in theory can do pread(), but this can be a long story, so revert to ->read_proc until then. http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11856 Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com>
