2015-03-30cfg80211: pass name_assign_type to rdev_add_virtual_intf()Tom Gundersen
This will expose in /sys whether the ifname of a device is set by userspace or generated by the kernel. The latter kind (wlanX, etc) is not deterministic, so userspace needs to rename these devices to names that are guaranteed to stay the same between reboots. The former, however should never be renamed, so userspace needs to be able to reliably tell the difference. Similar functionality was introduced for the rtnetlink core in commit 5517750f058e ("net: rtnetlink - make create_link take name_assign_type") Signed-off-by: Tom Gundersen <teg@jklm.no> Cc: Kalle Valo <kvalo@qca.qualcomm.com> Cc: Brett Rudley <brudley@broadcom.com> Cc: Arend van Spriel <arend@broadcom.com> Cc: Franky (Zhenhui) Lin <frankyl@broadcom.com> Cc: Hante Meuleman <meuleman@broadcom.com> Cc: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> [reformat changelog to fit 72 cols] Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2014-11-19cfg80211: introduce TDLS channel switch commandsArik Nemtsov
Introduce commands to initiate and cancel TDLS channel-switching. Once TDLS channel-switching is started, the lower level driver is responsible for continually initiating channel-switch operations and returning to the base (AP) channel to listen for beacons from time to time. Upon cancellation of the channel-switch all communication between the relevant TDLS peers will continue on the base channel. 2014-11-04cfg80211: 802.11p OCB mode handlingRostislav Lisovy
This patch adds new iface type (NL80211_IFTYPE_OCB) representing the OCB (Outside the Context of a BSS) mode. When establishing a connection to the network a cfg80211_join_ocb function is called (particular nl80211_command is added as well). A mandatory parameters during the ocb_join operation are 'center frequency' and 'channel width (5/10 MHz)'. Changes done in mac80211 are minimal possible required to avoid many warnings (warning: enumeration value 'NL80211_IFTYPE_OCB' not handled in switch) during compilation. Full functionality (where needed) is added in the following patch. Signed-off-by: Rostislav Lisovy <rostislav.lisovy@fel.cvut.cz> Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>

2014-09-11cfg80211: add WMM traffic stream APIJohannes Berg
Add nl80211 and driver API to validate, add and delete traffic streams with appropriate settings. The API calls for userspace doing the action frame handshake with the peer, and then allows only to set up the parameters in the driver. To avoid setting up a session only to tear it down again, the validate API is provided, but the real usage later can still fail so userspace must be prepared for that. 2014-06-23cfg80211: pass TDLS initiator in tdls_mgmt operationsArik Nemtsov
The TDLS initiator is set once during link setup. If determines the address ordering in the link identifier IE. Fix dependent drivers - mwifiex and mac80211. Signed-off-by: Arik Nemtsov <arikx.nemtsov@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2014-06-23cfg80211: make ethtool the driver's responsibilityJohannes Berg
Currently, cfg80211 tries to implement ethtool, but that doesn't really scale well, with all the different operations. Make the lower-level driver responsible for it, which currently only has an effect on mac80211. It will similarly not scale well at that level though, since mac80211 also has many drivers. To cleanly implement this in mac80211, introduce a new file and move some code to appropriate places. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2014-05-21cfg80211: implement cfg80211_get_station cfg80211 APIAntonio Quartulli
Implement and export the new cfg80211_get_station() API. This utility can be used by other kernel modules to obtain detailed information about a given wireless station. It will be in particular useful to batman-adv which will implement a wireless rate based metric. 2014-04-28cfg80211: Dynamic channel bandwidth changes in AP modeJouni Malinen
This extends NL80211_CMD_SET_CHANNEL to allow dynamic channel bandwidth changes in AP mode (including P2P GO) during a lifetime of the BSS. This can be used to implement, e.g., HT 20/40 MHz co-existence rules on the 2.4 GHz band. Signed-off-by: Jouni Malinen <jouni@qca.qualcomm.com> Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2014-02-20cfg80211: Pass TDLS peer capability information in tdls_mgmtSunil Dutt Undekari
While framing the TDLS Setup Confirmation frame, the driver needs to know if the TDLS peer is VHT/HT/WMM capable and thus shall construct the VHT/HT operation / WMM parameter elements accordingly. Supplicant determines if the TDLS peer is VHT/HT/WMM capable based on the presence of the respective IEs in the received TDLS Setup Response frame. The host driver should not need to parse the received TDLS Response frame and thus, should be able to rely on the supplicant to indicate the capability of the peer through additional flags while transmitting the TDLS Setup Confirmation frame through tdls_mgmt operations. 2013-12-19cfg80211: Add support for QoS mappingKyeyoon Park
This allows QoS mapping from external networks to be implemented as defined in IEEE Std 802.11-2012, 10.24.9. APs can use this to advertise DSCP ranges and exceptions for mapping frames to a specific UP over Wi-Fi. The payload of the QoS Map Set element (IEEE Std 802.11-2012, 8.4.2.97) is sent to the driver through the new NL80211_ATTR_QOS_MAP attribute to configure the local behavior either on the AP (based on local configuration) or on a station (based on information received from the AP). 2013-12-02cfg80211: aggregate mgmt_tx parameters into a structAndrei Otcheretianski

2013-08-12cfg80211: add wdev to testmode cmdDavid Spinadel

2013-04-22cfg80211: introduce critical protocol indication from user-spaceArend van Spriel
Some protocols need a more reliable connection to complete successful in reasonable time. This patch adds a user-space API to indicate the wireless driver that a critical protocol is about to commence and when it is done, using nl80211 primitives NL80211_CMD_CRIT_PROTOCOL_START and NL80211_CRIT_PROTOCOL_STOP. There can be only on critical protocol session started per registered cfg80211 device. The driver can support this by implementing the cfg80211 callbacks .crit_proto_start() and .crit_proto_stop(). Examples of protocols that can benefit from this are DHCP, EAPOL, APIPA. Exactly how the link can/should be made more reliable is up to the driver. Things to consider are avoid scanning, no multi-channel operations, and alter coexistence schemes. 2013-03-06cfg80211: Extend support for IEEE 802.11r Fast BSS TransitionJouni Malinen
Add NL80211_CMD_UPDATE_FT_IES to support update of FT IEs to the WLAN driver and NL80211_CMD_FT_EVENT to send FT events from the WLAN driver. This will carry the target AP's MAC address along with the relevant Information Elements. This event is used to report received FT IEs (MDIE, FTIE, RSN IE, TIE, RICIE). These changes allow FT to be supported with drivers that use an internal SME instead of user space option (like FT implementation in wpa_supplicant with mac80211-based drivers). 2013-01-25cfg80211/nl80211: add API for MAC address ACLsVasanthakumar Thiagarajan
Add API to enable drivers to implement MAC address based access control in AP/P2P GO mode. Capable drivers advertise this capability by setting the maximum number of MAC addresses in such a list in wiphy->max_acl_mac_addrs. An initial ACL may be given to the NL80211_CMD_START_AP command and/or changed later with NL80211_CMD_SET_MAC_ACL. Black- and whitelists are supported, but not simultaneously. 2012-11-26cfg80211: pass a channel definition structJohannes Berg
Instead of passing a channel pointer and channel type to all functions and driver methods, pass a new channel definition struct. Right now, this struct contains just the control channel and channel type, but for VHT this will change. Also, add a small inline cfg80211_get_chandef_type() so that drivers don't need to use the _type field of the new structure all the time, which will change. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2012-11-26cfg80211: remove remain-on-channel channel typeJohannes Berg
As mwifiex (and mac80211 in the software case) are the only drivers actually implementing remain-on-channel with channel type, userspace can't be relying on it. This is the case, as it's used only for P2P operations right now. Rather than adding a flag to tell userspace whether or not it can actually rely on it, simplify all the code by removing the ability to use different channel types. Leave only the validation of the attribute, so that if we extend it again later (with the needed capability flag), it can't break userspace sending invalid data. 2012-10-30cfg80211: allow per interface TX power settingJohannes Berg
The TX power setting is currently per wiphy (hardware device) but with multi-channel capabilities that doesn't make much sense any more. Allow drivers (and mac80211) to advertise support for per-interface TX power configuration. When the TX power is configured for the wiphy, the wdev will be NULL and the driver can still handle that, but when a wdev is given the TX power can be set only for that wdev now.
