2023-10-20ALSA: hda: intel-dsp-config: Fix JSL Chromebook quirk detectionMark Hasemeyer
Some Jasperlake Chromebooks overwrite the system vendor DMI value to the name of the OEM that manufactured the device. This breaks Chromebook quirk detection as it expects the system vendor to be "Google". Add another quirk detection entry that looks for "Google" in the BIOS version. 2021-03-02ALSA: hda: move Intel SoundWire ACPI scan to dedicated modulePierre-Louis Bossart
The ACPI scan capabilities is called from the intel-dspconfig as well as the SOF/HDaudio drivers. This creates dependencies and randconfig issues when HDaudio and SOF/SoundWire are not all configured as modules. To simplify Kconfig dependencies between HDAudio, SoundWire, SOF and intel-dspconfig, move the ACPI scan helpers to a dedicated module. This follows the same idea as NHLT helpers which are already handled as a dedicated module. The only functional change is that the kernel parameter to filter links is now handled by a different module, but that was only provided for developers needing work-arounds for early BIOS releases. 2021-02-08ALSA: hda: intel-dsp-config: Add SND_INTEL_BYT_PREFER_SOF Kconfig optionHans de Goede
The kernel has 2 drivers for the Low Power Engine audio-block on Bay- and Cherry-Trail SoCs. The old SST driver and the new SOF driver. If both drivers are enabled then the kernel will default to using the old SST driver, unless told otherwise through the snd_intel_dspcfg.dsp_driver module-parameter. Add a boolean SND_INTEL_BYT_PREFER_SOF Kconfig option, which when set to Y will make the kernel default to the new SOF driver instead. The option defaults to n, preserving the current behavior. Making this configurable will help distributions such as Fedora: https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=Changes/SofDefaultForIntelLpe to test using SOF on BYT/CHT during the transition phase where we have both drivers (eventually the old driver and this option will be removed). Note that this drops the acpi_config_table[] containing 2 entries per ACPI hardware-id if both drivers are enabled. snd_intel_acpi_dsp_find_config() will always return the first hit, so we only need a single entry with the flags value set depending on the Kconfig settings. 2020-11-19ALSA: hda: intel-dsp-config: ignore dsp_driver parameter for PCI legacy devicesPierre-Louis Bossart
On Haswell/Broadwell/Baytrail/Braswell, the DSP is not used for the HDMI/DP interface, and setting the dsp_driver parameter to a value > 1 has the side effect of preventing the HDaudio legacy driver from probing. The DSP driver selection should really only handle cases where a DSP is actually used. This patch traps all known PCI devices and makes sure the HDaudio driver can always be probed. Mirror capabilities provided for PCI devices, so that distributions can select which ACPI driver is loaded at run-time with kernel parameters and DMI tables instead of forcing a build-time selection. The "legacy" option supported for HDaudio has no meaning here and will be ignored. The 'SST' driver based on closed-source firmware has the priority to avoid any impact on users, and the choice to use SOF is strictly opt-in. https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound into for-linus ASoC: Fixes for v5.8 This is a collection of mostly small fixes, mostly fixing fallout from some of the DPCM changes that went in last time around which shook out some issues on i.MX and Qualcomm platforms. The addition of a managed version of snd_soc_register_dai() is to fix resource leaks. There's also a few new device IDs for x86 systems.
2020-06-17ASoC: Intel: SOF: merge COMETLAKE_LP and COMETLAKE_HPierre-Louis Bossart
We already have two configurations for CometLake, and a third one coming. On other platforms, we used a single Kconfig option, so we should follow the same trend by merging the two cases in a backwards compatible way. The backwards compatibility is handled by overloading the COMETLAKE_LP kconfig as COMETLAKE. In practice we've never seen a case where COMETLAKE_H is not selected along with COMETLAKE_LP, so keeping one of the two is enough. 2020-04-11ALSA: hda: add autodetection for SoundWirePierre-Louis Bossart
When an ACPI companion device is present and the SoundWire link mask information is available, use SoundWire instead of legacy HDA or Skylake drivers. The SOF driver is selected when SoundWire or DMIC are detected. There is no precedence at this level. In the SOF driver proper, SoundWire will be handled first since it is mutually exclusive with HDaudio. Known devices with an existing DMI quirk bypass this detection to avoid any dependency on ACPI/DSDT tables. 2019-10-28ALSA: hda: Allow non-Intel device probe gracefullyTakashi Iwai
The recent addition of snd_intel_dsp_driver_probe() check caused a spurious kernel warning when the driver is loaded for a non-Intel hardware due to snd_BUG_ON(). Moreover, for such a hardware, we should always return SND_INTEL_DSP_DRIVER_ANY, not check the dsp_driver option at all. This patch fixes these issues for non-Intel devices. 2019-10-23ALSA: hda: add Intel DSP configuration / probe codeJaroslav Kysela
For distributions, we need one place where we can decide which driver will be activated for the auto-configation of the Intel's HDA hardware with DSP. Actually, we cover three drivers: * Legacy HDA * Intel SST * Intel Sound Open Firmware (SOF) All those drivers registers similar PCI IDs, so the first driver probed from the PCI stack can win. But... it is not guaranteed that the correct driver wins. This commit changes Intel's NHLT ACPI module to a common DSP probe module for the Intel's hardware. All above sound drivers calls this code. The user can force another behaviour using the module parameter 'dsp_driver' located in the 'snd-intel-dspcfg' module. This change allows to add specific dmi checks for the specific systems.
