2017-03-02sched/headers: Prepare to move signal wakeup & sigpending methods from ↵Ingo Molnar

2016-06-17sound: oss: avoid time_t usageArnd Bergmann
We want to remove all time_t users from the kernel because of y2038 compatibility. This particular instance does not even use time_t to store a seconds value, so we can simply use 'unsigned int', which seems more fitting anywhere. The same code is used in two OSS files. 2016-06-15sound: aedsp16: Change structure initialisation to C99 styleAmitoj Kaur Chawla

2016-05-17sound: oss: Use setup_timer and mod_timer.Muhammad Falak R Wani
The function setup_timer combines the initialization of a timer with the initialization of the timer's function and data fields. The mulitiline code for timer initialization is now replaced with function setup_timer. Also, quoting the mod_timer() function comment: -> mod_timer() is a more efficient way to update the expire field of an active timer (if the timer is inactive it will be activated). Use setup_timer() and mod_timer() to setup and arm a timer, making the code compact and aid readablity. 2015-12-09sound/oss: remove VIRT_TO_BUS dependencyArnd Bergmann
The OSS sound drivers used to rely on virt_to_bus(), but don't any more, so we can remove the Kconfig dependency. As a lot of architectures don't provide VIRT_TO_BUS any more, removing the dependency in sounds/oss/ would make the deprecated drivers appear there, which we probably don't want. Instead I'm replacing the simple dependency with 'VIRT_TO_BUS || RPC || NETWINDER' so we can still build these sound drivers for the platforms that need them, but don't change anything on other architectures. As a follow-up, we can remove the virt_to_bus() implementation and Kconfig symbol in the ARM architecture. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

2015-04-18sound/oss: fix deadlock in sequencer_ioctl(SNDCTL_SEQ_OUTOFBAND)Alexey Khoroshilov
A deadlock can be initiated by userspace via ioctl(SNDCTL_SEQ_OUTOFBAND) on /dev/sequencer with TMR_ECHO midi event. In this case the control flow is: sound_ioctl() -> case SND_DEV_SEQ: case SND_DEV_SEQ2: sequencer_ioctl() -> case SNDCTL_SEQ_OUTOFBAND: spin_lock_irqsave(&lock,flags); play_event(); -> case EV_TIMING: seq_timing_event() -> case TMR_ECHO: seq_copy_to_input() -> spin_lock_irqsave(&lock,flags); It seems that spin_lock_irqsave() around play_event() is not necessary, because the only other call location in seq_startplay() makes the call without acquiring spinlock. So, the patch just removes spinlocks around play_event(). By the way, it removes unreachable code in seq_timing_event(), since (seq_mode == SEQ_2) case is handled in the beginning. Compile tested only. Found by Linux Driver Verification project (linuxtesting.org). Signed-off-by: Alexey Khoroshilov <khoroshilov@ispras.ru> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

We want to remove all sleep_on variants from the kernel because they are racy. In case of the pinnacle driver, we can replace interruptible_sleep_on_timeout with wait_event_interruptible_timeout by changing the meaning of a few flags used in the driver so they are cleared at wakeup time, which is a somewhat more appropriate way to do the same, although probably still racy. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound into for-next ASoC: Updates for v3.12 - DAPM is now mandatory for CODEC drivers in order to avoid the repeated regressions in the special cases for non-DAPM CODECs and make it easier to integrate with other components on boards. All existing drivers have had some level of DAPM support added. - A lot of cleanups in DAPM plus support for maintaining controls in a specific state while a DAPM widget all contributed by Lars-Peter Clausen. - Core helpers for bitbanged AC'97 reset from Markus Pargmann. - New drivers and support for Analog Devices ADAU1702 and ADAU1401(a), Asahi Kasei Microdevices AK4554, Atmel AT91ASM9x5 and WM8904 based machines, Freescale S/PDIF and SSI AC'97, Renesas R-Car SoCs, Samsung Exynos5420 SoCs, Texas Instruments PCM1681 and PCM1792A and Wolfson Microelectronics WM8997. - Support for building drivers that can support it cross-platform for compile test.

While the conversion of BKL to mutex in commit 645ef9ef, the mutex definition was put in a wrong place inside #ifdef WSND_DEBUG, which leads to the build error. Just move it outside the ifdef. Reported-by: Fengguang Wu <fengguang.wu@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
