2019-11-04ASoC: hdac_hda: fix race in device removalKai Vehmanen
When ASoC card instance is removed containing a HDA codec, hdac_hda_codec_remove() may run in parallel with codec resume. This will cause problems if the HDA link is freed with snd_hdac_ext_bus_link_put() while the codec is still in middle of its resume process. To fix this, change the order such that pm_runtime_disable() is called before the link is freed. This will ensure any pending runtime PM action is completed before proceeding to free the link. This issue can be easily hit with e.g. SOF driver by loading and unloading the drivers. 2019-10-28ASoC: rockchip: rockchip_max98090: Enable SHDN to fix headset detectionCheng-Yi Chiang
max98090 spec states that chip needs to be in turned-on state to supply mic bias. Enable SHDN dapm widget along with MICBIAS widget to actually turn on mic bias for proper headset button detection. This is similar to cht_ti_jack_event in sound/soc/intel/boards/cht_bsw_max98090_ti.c. Note that due to ts3a227e reports the jack event right away before the notifier is registered, if headset is plugged on boot, headset button will not get detected until headset is unplugged and plugged. This is still an issue to be fixed. 2019-10-23ASoC: kirkwood: fix device remove orderingRussell King
The devm conversion of kirkwood was incorrect; on removal, devm takes effect after the "remove" function has returned. So, the effect of the conversion was to change the order during remove from: - snd_soc_unregister_component() (unpublishes interfaces) - clk_disable_unprepare() - cleanup resources After the conversion, this became: - clk_disable_unprepare() - while the device may still be active - snd_soc_unregister_component() - cleanup resources Hence, it introduces a bug, where the internal clock for the device may be shut down before the device itself has been shut down. It is known that Marvell SoCs, including Dove, locks up if registers for a peripheral that has its clocks disabled are accessed. Currently each SSI unit's busif dma address is calculated by following calculation formula: 0xec540000 + 0x1000 * id + busif / 4 * 0xA000 + busif % 4 * 0x400 But according to R-Car3 HW manual 41.1.4 Register Configuration, ssi9 4/5/6/7 busif data register address (SSI9_4_BUSIF/SSI9_5_BUSIF/SSI9_6_BUSIF/SSI9_7_BUSIF) are out of this rule. This patch updates the calculation formula to correct ssi9 4/5/6/7 busif data register address. 2019-10-21ASoC: msm8916-wcd-analog: Fix RX1 selection in RDAC2 MUXStephan Gerhold
According to the PM8916 Hardware Register Description, CDC_D_CDC_CONN_HPHR_DAC_CTL has only a single bit (RX_SEL) to switch between RX1 (0) and RX2 (1). It is not possible to disable it entirely to achieve the "ZERO" state. However, at the moment the "RDAC2 MUX" mixer defines three possible values ("ZERO", "RX2" and "RX1"). Setting the mixer to "ZERO" actually configures it to RX1. Setting the mixer to "RX1" has (seemingly) no effect. Remove "ZERO" and replace it with "RX1" to fix this. All the kcontrol put() functions are currently returning 0 when successful. This does not go well with alsamixer as it does not seem to get notified on SND_CTL_EVENT_MASK_VALUE callbacks when values change for (some of) the sof kcontrols. This patch fixes that by returning true for volume, switch and enum type kcontrols when values do change in put(). 2019-10-18ASoC: rsnd: Reinitialize bit clock inversion flag for every format settingJunya Monden
Unlike other format-related DAI parameters, rdai->bit_clk_inv flag is not properly re-initialized when setting format for new stream processing. The inversion, if requested, is then applied not to default, but to a previous value, which leads to SCKP bit in SSICR register being set incorrectly. Fix this by re-setting the flag to its initial value, determined by format. 2019-10-01ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: fix warnings during FW loadKai Vehmanen
The "snd_pcm_substream" handle was not initialized properly in hda-loader.c for firmware load. When the HDA DMAs were used to load the firmware, the interrupts related to firmware load also triggered calls to snd_sof_pcm_period_elapsed() on a non-existent ALSA PCM stream. This caused runtime kernel warnings from pcm_lib.c:snd_pcm_period_elapsed(). 2019-10-01ASoC: SOF: pcm: harden PCM STOP sequencePan Xiuli
The old STOP sequence is: 1. stop DMA 2. send STOP ipc If delay happen before the steps 1 and 2, the DMA buffer will be empty in short time and cause pipeline xrun then stop the pipeline. Then the step 2 ipc stop will return error as pipeline is already stopped. Suggested change to avoid the issue is to switch the order of steps 1 and 2 for the stop sequence. Fix a bug in sof_pcm_hw_free() where some cleanup actions were skipped if STREAM_PCM_FREE IPC was already successfully sent to DSP when the stream was stopped or suspended. This is incorrect as hw_free should clean up also other resources, including pcm lib page allocations, period elapsed work queue and call to platform hw_free. When we fail to boot the firmware, we encounter a kernel oops in hda_dsp_get_registers(), which is called conditionally in hda_dsp_dump() when the sdev_>boot_complete flag is set. Setting this flag _after_ dumping the data fixes the issue and does not change the programming flow. Fix potential NULL pointer dereference for alg_region in wm_adsp_buffer_parse_legacy. In practice this can never happen as loading the firmware should have failed at the wm_adsp2_setup_algs stage, however probably better for the code to be robust against future changes and this is more helpful for static analysis. 2019-09-23ASoC: wm8994: Do not register inapplicable controls for WM1811Sylwester Nawrocki
In case of WM1811 device there are currently being registered controls referring to registers not existing on that device. It has been noticed when getting values of "AIF1ADC2 Volume", "AIF1DAC2 Volume" controls was failing during ALSA state restoring at boot time: "amixer: Mixer hw:0 load error: Device or resource busy" Reading some registers through I2C was failing with EBUSY error and indeed these registers were not available according to the datasheet. To fix this controls not available on WM1811 are moved to a separate array and registered only for WM8994 and WM8958. There are some further differences between WM8994 and WM1811, e.g. registers 603h, 604h, 605h, which are not covered in this patch. 2019-09-18ASoC: atmel_ssc_dai: Remove wrong spinlock usageGregory CLEMENT
A potential bug was reported in the email "[BUG] atmel_ssc_dai: a possible sleep-in-atomic bug in atmel_ssc_shutdown"[1] Indeed in the function atmel_ssc_shutdown() free_irq() was called in a critical section protected by spinlock. However this spinlock is only used in atmel_ssc_shutdown() and atmel_ssc_startup() functions. After further analysis, it occurred that the call to these function are already protected by mutex used on the calling functions. Then we can remove the spinlock which will fix this bug as a side effect. EDMA requires the period size to be multiple of maxburst. Otherwise the remaining bytes are not transferred and thus noise is produced. We can handle this issue by adding a constraint on SNDRV_PCM_HW_PARAM_PERIOD_SIZE to be multiple of tx/rx maxburst value.
