2024-07-20kbuild: Abort make on install failuresZhang Bingwu
Setting '-e' flag tells shells to exit with error exit code immediately after any of commands fails, and causes make(1) to regard recipes as failed. Before this, make will still continue to succeed even after the installation failed, for example, for insufficient permission or directory does not exist. 2024-05-22riscv: make image compression configurableEmil Renner Berthing
Previously the build process would always set KBUILD_IMAGE to the uncompressed Image file (unless XIP_KERNEL or EFI_ZBOOT was enabled) and unconditionally compress it into Image.gz. However there are already build targets for Image.bz2, Image.lz4, Image.lzma, Image.lzo and Image.zstd, so let's make use of those, make the compression method configurable and set KBUILD_IMAGE accordingly so that targets like 'make install' and 'make bindeb-pkg' will use the chosen image. 2022-05-11kbuild: factor out the common installation code into scripts/install.shMasahiro Yamada
Many architectures have similar install.sh scripts. The first half is really generic; it verifies that the kernel image and System.map exist, then executes ~/bin/${INSTALLKERNEL} or /sbin/${INSTALLKERNEL} if available. The second half is kind of arch-specific; it copies the kernel image and System.map to the destination, but the code is slightly different. Factor out the generic part into scripts/install.sh. 2018-11-20RISC-V: Build flat and compressed kernel imagesAnup Patel
This patch extends Linux RISC-V build system to build and install: Image - Flat uncompressed kernel image Image.gz - Flat and GZip compressed kernel image Quiet a few bootloaders (such as Uboot, UEFI, etc) are capable of booting flat and compressed kernel images. In case of Uboot, booting Image or Image.gz is achieved using bootm command. The flat and uncompressed kernel image (i.e. Image) is very useful in pre-silicon developent and testing because we can create back-door HEX files for RAM on FPGAs from Image.
