2025-03-16mm/ioremap: pass pgprot_t to ioremap_prot() instead of unsigned longRyan Roberts
ioremap_prot() currently accepts pgprot_val parameter as an unsigned long, thus implicitly assuming that pgprot_val and pgprot_t could never be bigger than unsigned long. But this assumption soon will not be true on arm64 when using D128 pgtables. In 128 bit page table configuration, unsigned long is 64 bit, but pgprot_t is 128 bit. Passing platform abstracted pgprot_t argument is better as compared to size based data types. Let's change the parameter to directly pass pgprot_t like another similar helper generic_ioremap_prot(). Without this change in place, D128 configuration does not work on arm64 as the top 64 bits gets silently stripped when passing the protection value to this function. 2012-05-21sh: Kill off machvec IRQ hinting.Paul Mundt
Everything is using sparseirq these days, so we have no need to arbitrarily size nr_irqs ahead of time. The legacy IRQ pre-allocation likewise has no meaning for us, so that's killed off too. We now depend on nr_irqs expansion by the generic hardirq layer instead. It's also worth noting that the majority of boards had completely bogus values for their nr_irqs relative to their CPU and configurations, so this ends up correcting behaviour for quite a few platforms. 2010-01-19sh: Prevent 64-bit pgprot clobbering across ioremap implementations.Paul Mundt
Presently 'flags' gets passed around a lot between the various ioremap helpers and implementations, which is only 32-bits. In the X2TLB case we use 64-bit pgprots which presently results in the upper 32bits being chopped off (which handily include our read/write/exec permissions). As such, we convert everything internally to using pgprot_t directly and simply convert over with pgprot_val() where needed.
