2024-01-05um: Rely on PTRACE_SETREGSET to set FS/GS base registersBenjamin Berg
These registers are saved/restored together with the other general registers using ptrace. In arch_set_tls we then just need to set the register and it will be synced back normally. Most of this logic was introduced in commit f355559cf7845 ("[PATCH] uml: x86_64 thread fixes"). However, at least today we can rely on ptrace to restore the base registers for us. As such, only the part of the patch that tracks the FS register for use as thread local storage is actually needed. 2018-10-31treewide: remove current_text_addrNick Desaulniers
Prefer _THIS_IP_ defined in linux/kernel.h. Most definitions of current_text_addr were the same as _THIS_IP_, but a few archs had inline assembly instead. This patch removes the final call site of current_text_addr, making all of the definitions dead code. 2013-11-17um: Rewrite show_stack()Richard Weinberger
Currently on UML stack traces are not very reliable and both x86 and x86_64 have their on implementations. This patch unifies both and adds support to outline unreliable functions calls. Signed-off-by: Richard Weinberger <richard@nod.at>
