2025-04-25accel/ivpu: Implement heartbeat-based TDR mechanismKarol Wachowski
Introduce a heartbeat-based Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) mechanism. The enhancement aims to improve the reliability of device hang detection by monitoring heartbeat updates. Each progressing inference will update heartbeat counter allowing driver to monitor its progression. Limit maximum number of reschedules when heartbeat indicates progression to 30. This increases the maximum running time of single inference to about 60 seconds. The heartbeat mechanism provides a more robust method for detecting device hangs, potentially reducing false positive recoveries due to long running inferences. 2025-01-09accel/ivpu: Set command queue management capability based on HWSKarol Wachowski
Control explicit command queue management capability bit based on scheduling mode. Capability will be available only when hardware scheduling mode is set. There is no point of allowing user space to create and destroy command queues with OS schedling mode because FW does not support all required functionalities for correct command queue management with OS scheduling. 2025-01-09accel/ivpu: Use workqueue for IRQ handlingMaciej Falkowski

2025-01-09accel/ivpu: Abort all jobs after command queue unregisterKarol Wachowski
With hardware scheduler it is not expected to receive JOB_DONE notifications from NPU FW for the jobs aborted due to command queue destroy JSM command. Remove jobs submitted to unregistered command queue from submitted_jobs_xa to avoid triggering a TDR in such case. Add explicit submitted_jobs_lock that protects access to list of submitted jobs which is now used to find jobs to abort. Move context abort procedure to separate work queue not to slow down handling of IPCs or DCT requests in case where job abort takes longer, especially when destruction of the last job of a specific context results in context release. 2023-10-31accel/ivpu: Rename VPU to NPU in product stringsJacek Lawrynowicz
VPU was rebranded as NPU (Neural Processing Unit) so user facing strings have to be updated but the code remains as is and the module is still called intel_vpu.ko. 2023-10-30accel/ivpu: Add support for delayed D0i3 entry messageAndrzej Kacprowski
Currently the VPU firmware prepares for D0i3 every time the VPU is entering D0i2 Idle state. This is not optimal as we might not enter D0i3 every time we enter D0i2 Idle and this preparation is quite costly. This optimization moves D0i3 preparation to a dedicated message sent from the host driver only when the driver is about to enter D0i3 - this reduces power consumption and latency for certain workloads, for example audio workloads that submit inference every 10 ms. The VPU needs non zero time to enter IDLE state after responding to D0i3 entry message. If the driver does not wait for the VPU to enter IDLE state it could cause warm boot failures. 2023-10-30accel/ivpu: Add support for VPU_JOB_FLAGS_NULL_SUBMISSION_MASKAndrzej Kacprowski
Add test_mode = 3 that add VPU_JOB_FLAGS_NULL_SUBMISSION_MASK flag to the job send to the VPU device. Then the VPU will process the job but won't execute commands (except the command to signal the fence). This can be used to estimate job processing overhead in the host software and VPU firmware. Unlike the null hardware mode, the null submission mode will still work even if UMD uses VPU fences to track job completion. 2023-09-04accel/ivpu: Initialize context with SSID = 1Karol Wachowski
Context with SSID = 1 is reserved and accesses on that context happen only when context is uninitialized on the VPU side. Such access triggers MMU fault (0xa) "Invalid CD Fetch", which doesn't contain any useful information besides context ID. This commit will change that state, now (0x10) "Translation fault" will be triggered and accessed address will shown in the log.
