2025-04-21RDMA/rxe: Remove 32-bit architecture supportDaisuke Matsuda
Major linux distibutions have phased out support for 32-bit machines. Since rxe is primarily used for development and testing, the benefit of maintaining 32-bit support is minimal. This change simplifies ATOMIC WRITE implementations and improves maintainability of the driver. 2025-02-09RDMA/rxe: switch to using the crc32 libraryEric Biggers
Now that the crc32_le() library function takes advantage of architecture-specific optimizations, it is unnecessary to go through the crypto API. Just use crc32_le(). This is much simpler, and it improves performance due to eliminating the crypto API overhead. 2021-03-01RDMA/rxe: Fix missing kconfig dependency on CRYPTOJulian Braha
When RDMA_RXE is enabled and CRYPTO is disabled, Kbuild gives the following warning: WARNING: unmet direct dependencies detected for CRYPTO_CRC32 Depends on [n]: CRYPTO [=n] Selected by [y]: - RDMA_RXE [=y] && (INFINIBAND_USER_ACCESS [=y] || !INFINIBAND_USER_ACCESS [=y]) && INET [=y] && PCI [=y] && INFINIBAND [=y] && INFINIBAND_VIRT_DMA [=y] This is because RDMA_RXE selects CRYPTO_CRC32, without depending on or selecting CRYPTO, despite that config option being subordinate to CRYPTO. 2020-11-17RDMA/core: remove use of dma_virt_opsChristoph Hellwig
Use the ib_dma_* helpers to skip the DMA translation instead. This removes the last user if dma_virt_ops and keeps the weird layering violation inside the RDMA core instead of burderning the DMA mapping subsystems with it. This also means the software RDMA drivers now don't have to mess with DMA parameters that are not relevant to them at all, and that in the future we can use PCI P2P transfers even for software RDMA, as there is no first fake layer of DMA mapping that the P2P DMA support. 2020-11-12RMDA/sw: Don't allow drivers using dma_virt_ops on highmem configsChristoph Hellwig
dma_virt_ops requires that all pages have a kernel virtual address. Introduce a INFINIBAND_VIRT_DMA Kconfig symbol that depends on !HIGHMEM and make all three drivers depend on the new symbol. Also remove the ARCH_DMA_ADDR_T_64BIT dependency, which has been obsolete since commit 4965a68780c5 ("arch: define the ARCH_DMA_ADDR_T_64BIT config symbol in lib/Kconfig") Fixes: 551199aca1c3 ("lib/dma-virt: Add dma_virt_ops") Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20201106181941.1878556-2-hch@lst.de Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: Jason Gunthorpe <jgg@nvidia.com>
2020-06-14treewide: replace '---help---' in Kconfig files with 'help'Masahiro Yamada
Since commit 84af7a6194e4 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over '---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances. This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines, I also fixed the indentation. There are a variety of indentation styles found. a) 4 spaces + '---help---' b) 7 spaces + '---help---' c) 8 spaces + '---help---' d) 1 space + 1 tab + '---help---' e) 1 tab + '---help---' (correct indentation) f) 1 tab + 1 space + '---help---' g) 1 tab + 2 spaces + '---help---' In order to convert all of them to 1 tab + 'help', I ran the following commend: $ find . -name 'Kconfig*' | xargs sed -i 's/^[[:space:]]*---help---/\thelp/' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <masahiroy@kernel.org>

2018-05-15IB: Fix RDMA_RXE and INFINIBAND_RDMAVT dependencies for DMA_VIRT_OPSBen Hutchings
DMA_VIRT_OPS requires that dma_addr_t is at least as wide as a pointer, which is expressed as a dependency on !64BIT || ARCH_DMA_ADDR_T_64BIT. For parisc64 this is not true, and if these IB modules are enabled, kconfig warns: WARNING: unmet direct dependencies detected for DMA_VIRT_OPS Depends on [n]: HAS_DMA [=y] && (!64BIT [=y] || ARCH_DMA_ADDR_T_64BIT) Selected by [m]: - INFINIBAND_RDMAVT [=m] && INFINIBAND [=m] && 64BIT [=y] && PCI [=y] - RDMA_RXE [=m] && INET [=y] && PCI [=y] && INFINIBAND [=m] Add dependencies to fix this. 2016-08-04Soft RoCE driverMoni Shoua
Soft RoCE (RXE) - The software RoCE driver ib_rxe implements the RDMA transport and registers to the RDMA core device as a kernel verbs provider. It also implements the packet IO layer. On the other hand ib_rxe registers to the Linux netdev stack as a udp encapsulating protocol, in that case RDMA, for sending and receiving packets over any Ethernet device. This yields a RDMA transport over the UDP/Ethernet network layer forming a RoCEv2 compatible device. The configuration procedure of the Soft RoCE drivers requires binding to any existing Ethernet network device. This is done with /sys interface. A userspace Soft RoCE library (librxe) provides user applications the ability to run with Soft RoCE devices. The use of rxe verbs ins user space requires the inclusion of librxe as a device specifics plug-in to libibverbs. librxe is packaged separately.
