2025-05-01media: nxp: imx8-isi: better handle the m2m usage_countLaurentiu Palcu
Currently, if streamon/streamoff calls are imbalanced we can either end up with a negative ISI m2m usage_count (if streamoff() is called more times than streamon()) in which case we'll not be able to restart the ISI pipe next time, or the usage_count never gets to 0 and the pipe is never switched off. To avoid that, add a 'streaming' flag to mxc_isi_m2m_ctx_queue_data and use it in the streamon/streamoff to avoid incrementing/decrementing the usage_count uselessly, if called multiple times from the same context. 2025-01-06media: nxp: imx8-isi: fix v4l2-compliance test errorsLaurentiu Palcu
Running the v4l2-compliance (1.27.0-5208, SHA: af114250d48d) on the m2m device fails on the MMAP streaming tests, with the following messages: fail: v4l2-test-buffers.cpp(240): g_field() == V4L2_FIELD_ANY fail: v4l2-test-buffers.cpp(1508): buf.qbuf(node) Apparently, the driver does not properly set the field member of vb2_v4l2_buffer struct, returning the default V4L2_FIELD_ANY value which is against the guidelines. 2024-10-28media: platform: drop vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finishHans Verkuil
Since commit 88785982a19d ("media: vb2: use lock if wait_prepare/finish are NULL") it is no longer needed to set the wait_prepare/finish vb2_ops callbacks as long as the lock field in vb2_queue is set. Since the vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finish callbacks already rely on that field, we can safely drop these callbacks. This simplifies the code and this is a step towards the goal of deleting these callbacks. 2024-10-12media: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()Uwe Kleine-König
After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove() return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for platform drivers. Convert all platform drivers below drivers/media to use .remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer. 2024-02-28media: nxp: imx8-isi: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2024-02-05media: nxp: imx8-isi: Mark all crossbar sink pads as MUST_CONNECTLaurent Pinchart
All the sink pads of the crossbar switch require an active link if they're part of the pipeline. 2024-02-05media: nxp: imx8-isi: Check whether crossbar pad is non-NULL before accessMarek Vasut
When translating source to sink streams in the crossbar subdev, the driver tries to locate the remote subdev connected to the sink pad. The remote pad may be NULL, if userspace tries to enable a stream that ends at an unconnected crossbar sink. When that occurs, the driver dereferences the NULL pad, leading to a crash. Prevent the crash by checking if the pad is NULL before using it, and return an error if it is. 2023-12-04media: v4l2-subdev: Rename .init_cfg() operation to .init_state()Laurent Pinchart
The subdev .init_cfg() operation is affected by two issues: - It has long been extended to initialize a whole v4l2_subdev_state instead of just a v4l2_subdev_pad_config, but its name has stuck around. - Despite operating on a whole subdev state and not being directly exposed to the subdev users (either in-kernel or through the userspace API), .init_cfg() is categorized as a subdev pad operation. This participates in making the subdev API confusing for new developers. Fix it by renaming the operation to .init_state(), and make it a subdev internal operation. 2023-08-10media: v4l: async: Set v4l2_device and subdev in async notifier initSakari Ailus
Set the v4l2_device already in async notifier init, so struct device related to it will be available before the notifier is registered. This requires separating notifier initialisation into two functions, one that takes v4l2_device as its argument, v4l2_async_nf_init and v4l2_async_subdev_nf_init, for sub-device notifiers. Registering the notifier will use a single function, v4l2_async_nf_register. This is done in order to make struct device available earlier, during construction of the async connections, for sensible debug prints. 2023-07-28media: v4l: async: Rename v4l2_async_subdev as v4l2_async_connectionSakari Ailus
Rename v4l2_async_subdev as v4l2_async_connection, in order to differentiate between the sub-devices and their connections: one sub-device can have many connections but the V4L2 async framework has so far allowed just a single one. Connections in this context will later translate into either MC ancillary or data links. This patch prepares changing that relation by changing existing users of v4l2_async_subdev to switch to v4l2_async_connection. Async sub-devices themselves will not be needed anymore Additionally, __v4l2_async_nf_add_subdev() has been renamed __v4l2_async_nf_add_connection(). 2023-07-19media: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. The current implementation of the mxc_isi_channel_enable() function has a hard 300ms sleep. This was copied from the NXP BSP, which has since dropped the sleep in a commit that implied the delay was meant to wait for the sensor to be "stable". As the sensor is started after the ISI, the delay won't affect sensor operation. Drop it. The Image Sensing Interface (ISI) combines image processing pipelines with DMA engines to process and capture frames originating from a variety of sources. The inputs to the ISI go through Pixel Link interfaces, and their number and nature is SoC-dependent. They cover both capture interfaces (MIPI CSI-2 RX, HDMI RX) and memory inputs.
