2025-05-09media: omap3isp: use sgtable-based scatterlist wrappersMarek Szyprowski
Use common wrappers operating directly on the struct sg_table objects to fix incorrect use of scatterlists sync calls. dma_sync_sg_for_*() functions have to be called with the number of elements originally passed to dma_map_sg_*() function, not the one returned in sgtable's nents. 2025-04-30media: omap3isp: drop wait_prepare/finish callbacksHans Verkuil
Since commit 88785982a19d ("media: vb2: use lock if wait_prepare/finish are NULL") it is no longer needed to set the wait_prepare/finish vb2_ops callbacks as long as the lock field in vb2_queue is set. Set the queue lock to &video->queue_lock, which makes it possible to drop the wait_prepare/finish callbacks. This simplifies the code and this is a step towards the goal of deleting these callbacks. Note that the lock field of struct video_device is never set in this driver, so the core v4l2_ioctl.c function v4l2_ioctl_get_lock() will never take a lock. omap3isp_print_status() was added in 2011 by commit 448de7e7850b ("[media] omap3isp: OMAP3 ISP core") but has remained unused. Remove it (and it's associated #defines). Signed-off-by: Dr. David Alan Gilbert <linux@treblig.org> Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl>
2025-03-04media: omap3isp: Use syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle_argsKrzysztof Kozlowski
Use syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle_args() which is a wrapper over syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle() combined with getting the syscon argument. Except simpler code this annotates within one line that given phandle has arguments, so grepping for code would be easier. 2025-03-04media: omap3isp: Handle ARM dma_iommu_mappingRobin Murphy
It's no longer practical for the OMAP IOMMU driver to trick arm_setup_iommu_dma_ops() into ignoring its presence, so let's use the same tactic as other IOMMU API users on 32-bit ARM and explicitly kick the arch code's dma_iommu_mapping out of the way to avoid problems. 2024-10-12media: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()Uwe Kleine-König
After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove() return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for platform drivers. Convert all platform drivers below drivers/media to use .remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer. 2024-10-12media: omap3isp: add missing wait_prepare/finish opsHans Verkuil
Without these ops the v4l2-compliance blocking wait test will fail. These ops are required to ensure that when VIDIOC_DQBUF has to wait for buffers to arrive, the queue lock is correctly released and retaken. Otherwise the wait for a buffer would block all other queue ioctls. 2023-08-10media: v4l: async: Set v4l2_device and subdev in async notifier initSakari Ailus
Set the v4l2_device already in async notifier init, so struct device related to it will be available before the notifier is registered. This requires separating notifier initialisation into two functions, one that takes v4l2_device as its argument, v4l2_async_nf_init and v4l2_async_subdev_nf_init, for sub-device notifiers. Registering the notifier will use a single function, v4l2_async_nf_register. Rename v4l2_async_subdev as v4l2_async_connection, in order to differentiate between the sub-devices and their connections: one sub-device can have many connections but the V4L2 async framework has so far allowed just a single one. Connections in this context will later translate into either MC ancillary or data links. This patch prepares changing that relation by changing existing users of v4l2_async_subdev to switch to v4l2_async_connection. Async sub-devices themselves will not be needed anymore Additionally, __v4l2_async_nf_add_subdev() has been renamed __v4l2_async_nf_add_connection(). 2023-04-12media: Zero-initialize all structures passed to subdev pad operationsLaurent Pinchart
Several drivers call subdev pad operations, passing structures that are not fully zeroed. While the drivers initialize the fields they care about explicitly, this results in reserved fields having uninitialized values. Future kernel API changes that make use of those fields thus risk breaking proper driver operation in ways that could be hard to detect. To avoid this, make the code more robust by zero-initializing all the structures passed to subdev pad operation. Maintain a consistent coding style by preferring designated initializers (which zero-initialize all the fields that are not specified) over memset() where possible, and make variable declarations local to inner scopes where applicable. One notable exception to this rule is in the ipu3 driver, where a memset() is needed as the structure is not a local variable but a function parameter provided by the caller. Not all fields of those structures can be initialized when declaring the variables, as the values for those fields are computed later in the code. Initialize the 'which' field in all cases, and other fields when the variable declaration is so close to the v4l2_subdev_call() call that it keeps all the context easily visible when reading the code, to avoid hindering readability. 2023-04-11media: isp: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2022-03-18media: Kconfig: cleanup VIDEO_DEV dependenciesMauro Carvalho Chehab
media Kconfig has two entries associated to V4L API: VIDEO_DEV and VIDEO_V4L2. On Kernel 2.6.x, there were two V4L APIs, each one with its own flag. VIDEO_DEV were meant to: 1) enable Video4Linux and make its Kconfig options to appear; 2) it makes the Kernel build the V4L core. while VIDEO_V4L2 where used to distinguish between drivers that implement the newer API and drivers that implemented the former one. With time, such meaning changed, specially after the removal of all V4L version 1 drivers. At the current implementation, VIDEO_DEV only does (1): it enables the media options related to V4L, that now has: menu "Video4Linux options" visible if VIDEO_DEV source "drivers/media/v4l2-core/Kconfig" endmenu but it doesn't affect anymore the V4L core drivers. The rationale is that the V4L2 core has a "soft" dependency at the I2C bus, and now requires to select a number of other Kconfig options: config VIDEO_V4L2 tristate depends on (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV select RATIONAL select VIDEOBUF2_V4L2 if VIDEOBUF2_CORE default (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV In the past, merging them would be tricky, but it seems that it is now possible to merge those symbols, in order to simplify V4L dependencies. Let's keep VIDEO_DEV, as this one is used on some make *defconfig configurations.
