2024-10-17wifi: wilc1000: Add WILC3000 supportAjay Singh
Add support for the WILC3000 chip. The chip is similar to WILC1000, except that the register layout is slightly different and it does not support WPA3/SAE. 2024-10-17wifi: wilc1000: Fill in missing error handlingMarek Vasut
Add error handling to chip_wakeup() and propagate the errors throughout the entire driver. Add error handling to acquire_bus()/release_bus() and host_sleep_notify()/host_wakeup_notify() functions as a result as well. Fill the error handling to all call sites. 2024-10-17wifi: wilc1000: Fold chip_allow_sleep()/chip_wakeup() into wlan.cMarek Vasut
Neither chip_allow_sleep()/chip_wakeup() is used outside of wlan.c . Make both functions static and remove both the exported symbol and entries from wlan.h . Make chip_allow_sleep() return error code in preparation for the follow up patches. Move acquire_bus() and release_bus() to avoid forward declaration of chip_allow_sleep()/chip_wakeup(). 2024-10-17wifi: wilc1000: Clean up usage of wilc_get_chipid()Marek Vasut
Reduce the use of wilc_get_chipid(), use cached chip ID wherever possible. Remove duplicated partial chip ID read implementations from the driver. Update wilc_get_chipid() to always read the chip ID out of the hardware and update the cached chip ID, and make it return a proper return value instead of a chipid. Call wilc_get_chipid() early to make the cached chip ID available to various sites using is_wilc1000() to access the cached chip ID. 2024-06-18wifi: wilc1000: disable power sequencerAjay Singh
Driver systematically disables some power mechanism each time it starts the chip firmware (so mostly when interface is brought up). This has a negative impact on some specific scenarios when the chip is exposed as a hotpluggable SDIO card (eg: WILC1000 SD): - when executing suspend/resume sequence while interface has been brought up - rebooting the platform while module is plugged and interface has been brought up Those scenarios lead to mmc core trying to initialize again the chip which is now unresponsive (because of the power sequencer setting), so it fails in mmc_rescan->mmc_attach_sdio and enter a failure loop while trying to send CMD5: mmc0: error -110 whilst initialising SDIO card mmc0: error -110 whilst initialising SDIO card mmc0: error -110 whilst initialising SDIO card [...] Preventing the driver from disabling this "power sequencer" fixes those enumeration issues without affecting nominal operations. 2024-05-17wifi: wilc1000: add function to read mac address from eFuseAlexis Lothoré
wilc driver currently reads and sets mac address by firmware calls. It means that we can not access mac address if no interface has been brought up (so firmware is up and running). Another way to get mac address is to read it directly from eFUSE. Add a function helper to read the mac address written in eFuse, without firmware assistance Signed-off-by: Alexis Lothoré <alexis.lothore@bootlin.com> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@kernel.org> Link: https://msgid.link/20240514-mac_addr_at_probe-v2-4-afef09f1cd10@bootlin.com
2024-02-15wifi: wilc1000: validate chip id during bus probeDavid Mosberger-Tang
Previously, the driver created a net device (typically wlan0) as soon as the module was loaded. This commit changes the driver to follow normal Linux convention of creating the net device only when bus probing detects a supported chip. 2024-01-18wifi: wilc1000: fix incorrect power down sequenceAjay Singh
Use the correct register configuration when the WILC chip is down so the successive interface up operation is successful. The modified registers values during chip down helps to avoid the "FW not responding" debug message which sometimes occurs because of temporary bus communication failure during the next start. Also, make sure on first communication with the chip that it is indeed woken up. 2021-09-21wilc1000: handle read failure issue for clockless registersAjay Singh

2021-09-21wilc1000: configure registers to handle chip wakeup sequenceAjay Singh
Use the correct sequence to configure clockless registers for chip wake-up. The following sequence is expected from WILC chip for wakeup: - set wakeup bit in wakeup_reg register - after setting the wakeup bit, read back the clock status bit for wakeup complete. For SDIO/SPI modules, the wakeup sequence is the same except uses different register values so refactored the code to use common function for both SDIO/SPI bus. 2021-02-11wilc1000: Fix use of void pointer as a wrong struct typeVsevolod Kozlov
ac_classify() expects a struct sk_buff* as its second argument, which is a member of struct tx_complete_data. priv happens to be a pointer to struct tx_complete_data, so passing it directly to ac_classify() leads to wrong behaviour and occasional panics. Since there is only one caller of wilc_wlan_txq_add_net_pkt and it already knows the type behind this pointer, and the structure is already in the header file, change the function signature to use the real type instead of void* in order to prevent confusion. 2020-12-02wilc1000: added queue support for WMMAjay Singh
Added multiple queues[BK,BE,VI,VO] to handle different priority data packets. Before adding a packet to the queue, checked its priority from the header, and then add to the suitable queue. The limit for each queue is maintained separately. Also while passing the packets to the firmware via VMM take care to select data packets based on priority and available space. 2020-06-26wilc1000: move wilc driver out of stagingAjay Singh
WILC1000 is an IEEE 802.11 b/g/n IoT link controller module. The WILC1000 connects to Microchip AVR/SMART MCUs, SMART MPUs, and other processors with minimal resource requirements with a simple SPI/SDIO-to-Wi-Fi interface. WILC1000 driver has been part of staging for few years. With contributions from the community, it has improved significantly. Full driver review has helped in achieving the current state. The details for those reviews are captured in 1 & 2.
