2025-07-18xfs: don't allocate the xfs_extent_busy structure for zoned RTGsChristoph Hellwig
Busy extent tracking is primarily used to ensure that freed blocks are not reused for data allocations before the transaction that deleted them has been committed to stable storage, and secondarily to drive online discard. None of the use cases applies to zoned RTGs, as the zoned allocator can't overwrite blocks before resetting the zone, which already flushes out all transactions touching the RTGs. So the busy extent tracking is not needed for zoned RTGs, and also not called for zoned RTGs. But somehow the code to skip allocating and freeing the structure got lost during the zoned XFS upstreaming process. This not only causes these structures to unnecessarily allocated, but can also lead to memory leaks as the xg_busy_extents pointer in the xfs_group structure is overlayed with the pointer for the linked list of to be reset zones. Stop allocating and freeing the structure to not pointlessly allocate memory which is then leaked when the zone is reset. 2024-11-05xfs: add group based bno conversion helpersChristoph Hellwig
Add/move the blocks, blklog and blkmask fields to the generic groups structure so that code can work with AGs and RTGs by just using the right index into the array. Then, add convenience helpers to convert block numbers based on the generic group. This will allow writing code that doesn't care if it is used on AGs or the upcoming realtime groups. 2024-11-05xfs: convert busy extent tracking to the generic group structureChristoph Hellwig
Split busy extent tracking from struct xfs_perag into its own private structure, which can be pointed to by the generic group structure. Note that this structure is now dynamically allocated instead of embedded as the upcoming zone XFS code doesn't need it and will also have an unusually high number of groups due to hardware constraints. Dynamically allocating the structure this is a big memory saver for this case. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Reviewed-by: Darrick J. Wong <djwong@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Darrick J. 2024-11-05xfs: add a xfs_group_next_range helperChristoph Hellwig
Add a helper to iterate over iterate over all groups, which can be used as a simple while loop: struct xfs_group *xg = NULL; while ((xg = xfs_group_next_range(mp, xg, 0, MAX_GROUP))) { ... } This will be wrapped by the realtime group code first, and eventually replace the for_each_rtgroup_from and for_each_rtgroup_range helpers. 2024-11-05xfs: factor out a generic xfs_group structureChristoph Hellwig
Split the lookup and refcount handling of struct xfs_perag into an embedded xfs_group structure that can be reused for the upcoming realtime groups. It will be extended with more features later. Note that he xg_type field will only need a single bit even with realtime group support. For now it fills a hole, but it might be worth to fold it into another field if we can use this space better.
