2024-09-24perf test: Be more tolerant of metricgroup failuresIan Rogers
Previously "set -e" meant any non-zero exit code from perf stat would cause a test failure. As a non-zero exit happens when there aren't sufficient permissions, check for this case and make the exit code 2/skip for it. 2023-10-17perf tests: Fix shellcheck warning in stat_all_metricgroupsAthira Rajeev
Running shellcheck on stat_all_metricgroups.sh reports below warning: In ./tests/shell/stat_all_metricgroups.sh line 7: function ParanoidAndNotRoot() ^-- SC2112: 'function' keyword is non-standard. Delete it. As per the format, "function" is a non-standard keyword that can be used to declare functions. Fix this by removing the "function" keyword from ParanoidAndNotRoot function Signed-off-by: Athira Rajeev <atrajeev@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Acked-by: Namhyung Kim <namhyung@kernel.org> Cc: kjain@linux.ibm.com Cc: maddy@linux.ibm.com Cc: disgoel@linux.vnet.ibm.com Cc: linuxppc-dev@lists.ozlabs.org Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20231013073021.99794-4-atrajeev@linux.vnet.ibm.com Signed-off-by: Namhyung Kim <namhyung@kernel.org>
2023-10-04perf test: Avoid system wide when not privilegedIan Rogers
Switch the test program to sleep that makes more sense for system wide events. Only enable system wide when root or not paranoid. This avoids failures under some testing conditions like ARM cloud. 2022-01-11perf test: Enable system wide for metricgroups testIan Rogers
Uncore events as group leaders fail in per-thread mode causing exit errors. Enable system-wide for metricgroup testing. This fixes the HPC metric group when tested on skylakex. 2021-09-28perf test: Workload test of metric and metricgroupsIan Rogers
Test every metric and metricgroup with 'true' as a workload. For metrics, check that we see the metric printed or get unsupported. If the 'true' workload executes too quickly retry with 'perf bench internals synthesize'. v3. Fix test condition (thanks to Paul A. Clarke <pc@us.ibm.com>). Add a fallback case of a larger workload so that we don't ignore "<not counted>". v2. Switched the workload to something faster.
