10 daysselftests: net: increase inter-packet timeout in udpgro.shPaolo Abeni
The mentioned test is not very stable when running on top of debug kernel build. Increase the inter-packet timeout to allow more slack in such environments. 2025-05-27selftests: net: move wait_local_port_listen to lib.shHangbin Liu
The function wait_local_port_listen() is the only function defined in net_helper.sh. Since some tests source both lib.sh and net_helper.sh, we can simplify the setup by moving wait_local_port_listen() to lib.sh. With this change, net_helper.sh becomes redundant and can be removed. 2024-08-19selftests: udpgro: no need to load xdp for groHangbin Liu
After commit d7db7775ea2e ("net: veth: do not manipulate GRO when using XDP"), there is no need to load XDP program to enable GRO. On the other hand, the current test is failed due to loading the XDP program. e.g. # selftests: net: udpgro.sh # ipv4 # no GRO ok # no GRO chk cmsg ok # GRO ./udpgso_bench_rx: recv: bad packet len, got 1472, expected 14720 # # failed [...] # bad GRO lookup ok # multiple GRO socks ./udpgso_bench_rx: recv: bad packet len, got 1452, expected 14520 # # ./udpgso_bench_rx: recv: bad packet len, got 1452, expected 14520 # # failed ok 1 selftests: net: udpgro.sh After fix, all the test passed. # ./udpgro.sh ipv4 no GRO ok [...] multiple GRO socks ok Fixes: d7db7775ea2e ("net: veth: do not manipulate GRO when using XDP") Reported-by: Yi Chen <yiche@redhat.com> Closes: https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-53858 Reviewed-by: Toke Høiland-Jørgensen <toke@redhat.com> Acked-by: Paolo Abeni <pabeni@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Hangbin Liu <liuhangbin@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2024-08-19selftests: udpgro: report error when receive failedHangbin Liu
Currently, we only check the latest senders's exit code. If the receiver report failed, it is not recoreded. Fix it by checking the exit code of all the involved processes. Before: bad GRO lookup ok multiple GRO socks ./udpgso_bench_rx: recv: bad packet len, got 1452, expected 14520 ./udpgso_bench_rx: recv: bad packet len, got 1452, expected 14520 failed $ echo $? 0 After: bad GRO lookup ok multiple GRO socks ./udpgso_bench_rx: recv: bad packet len, got 1452, expected 14520 ./udpgso_bench_rx: recv: bad packet len, got 1452, expected 14520 failed $ echo $? 1 Fixes: 3327a9c46352 ("selftests: add functionals test for UDP GRO") Suggested-by: Paolo Abeni <pabeni@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Hangbin Liu <liuhangbin@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2024-04-24selftests: net: name bpf objects consistently and simplify MakefileJakub Kicinski
The BPF sources moved with bpf_offload.py have a suffix of .bpf.c which seems to be useful convention. Rename the 2 other BPF sources we had. Use wildcard in the Makefile, since we can match all those files easily now. Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20240423183542.3807234-2-kuba@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>
2024-01-25selftests: net: remove dependency on ebpf testsPaolo Abeni
Several net tests requires an XDP program build under the ebpf directory, and error out if such program is not available. That makes running successful net test hard, let's duplicate into the net dir the [very small] program, re-using the existing rules to build it, and finally dropping the bogus dependency. 2023-11-16selftests/net: synchronize udpgro tests' tx and rx connectionLucas Karpinski
The sockets used by udpgso_bench_tx aren't always ready when udpgso_bench_tx transmits packets. This issue is more prevalent in -rt kernels, but can occur in both. Replace the hacky sleep calls with a function that checks whether the ports in the namespace are ready for use. 2022-11-18selftests/net: fix missing xdp_dummyWang Yufen
After commit afef88e65554 ("selftests/bpf: Store BPF object files with .bpf.o extension"), we should use xdp_dummy.bpf.o instade of xdp_dummy.o. In addition, use the BPF_FILE variable to save the BPF object file name, which can be better identified and modified. 2022-11-04selftests/net: give more time to udpgro bg processes to complete startupAdrien Thierry
In some conditions, background processes in udpgro don't have enough time to set up the sockets. When foreground processes start, this results in the test failing with "./udpgso_bench_tx: sendmsg: Connection refused". For instance, this happens from time to time on a Qualcomm SA8540P SoC running CentOS Stream 9. To fix this, increase the time given to background processes to complete the startup before foreground processes start. Signed-off-by: Adrien Thierry <athierry@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2022-07-01selftests/net: fix section name when using xdp_dummy.oHangbin Liu
Since commit 8fffa0e3451a ("selftests/bpf: Normalize XDP section names in selftests") the xdp_dummy.o's section name has changed to xdp. But some tests are still using "section xdp_dummy", which make the tests failed. Fix them by updating to the new section name. 2021-01-05selftests: fix the return value for UDP GRO testPo-Hsu Lin
The udpgro.sh will always return 0 (unless the bpf selftest was not build first) even if there are some failed sub test-cases. Therefore the kselftest framework will report this case is OK. Check and return the exit status of each test to make it easier to spot real failures. Signed-off-by: Po-Hsu Lin <po-hsu.lin@canonical.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2019-03-01selftests: fixes for UDP GROPaolo Abeni
The current implementation for UDP GRO tests is racy: the receiver may flush the RX queue while the sending is still transmitting and incorrectly report RX errors, with a wrong number of packet received. Add explicit timeouts to the receiver for both connection activation (first packet received for UDP) and reception completion, so that in the above critical scenario the receiver will wait for the transfer completion. 2018-11-07selftests: add functionals test for UDP GROPaolo Abeni
Extends the existing udp programs to allow checking for proper GRO aggregation/GSO size, and run the tests via a shell script, using a veth pair with XDP program attached to trigger the GRO code path. rfc v3 -> v1: - use ip route to attach the xdp helper to the veth rfc v2 -> rfc v3: - add missing test program options documentation - fix sporatic test failures (receiver faster than sender) Signed-off-by: Paolo Abeni <pabeni@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S.
