2019-06-08drm/i915/dsi: Read back pclk set by GOP and use that as pclk (v3)Hans de Goede
The GOP sometimes initializes the pclk at a (slightly) different frequency then the pclk which we've calculated. This commit makes the DSI code read-back the pclk set by the GOP and if that is within a reasonable margin of the calculated pclk, uses that instead. This fixes the first modeset being a full modeset instead of a fast modeset on systems where the GOP pclk is different. 2019-06-08drm/i915/dsi: Move vlv/icl_dphy_param_init call out of intel_dsi_vbt_init (v2)Hans de Goede
The vlv/icl_dphy_param_init calls do various calculations to set dphy parameters based on the pclk. Move the calling of vlv/icl_dphy_param_init to vlv_dsi_init to give vlv_dsi_init a chance to tweak the pclk before these calculations are done. Changes in v2: -Also moves the icl and vlv specific dphy_param_init functions from the generic intel_dsi_vbt.c file into the icl_ and vlv_dsi.c specific files. 2019-04-26drm/i915: Lift acquiring the vlv punit magic to a common sb-getChris Wilson
As we now employ a very heavy pm_qos around the punit access, we want to minimise the number of synchronous requests by performing one for the whole punit sequence rather than around individual accesses. The sideband lock is used for this, so push the pm_qos into the sideband lock acquisition and release, moving it from the lowlevel punit rw routine to the callers. In the first step, we move the punit magic into the common sideband lock so that we can acquire a bunch of ports simultaneously, and if need be extend the workaround protection later. 2019-04-08drm/i915: Fix pipe_bpp readout for BXT/GLK DSIVille Syrjälä
The only bpc information in pipe registers for BXT/GLK DSI is the PIPEMISC dither bpc. Let's try to use that to read out pipe_bpp on these platforms. However, I'm not sure if this will be correctly populated by the GOP since bspec suggests it's only needed if dithering is actually enabled. If not I guess we'll have to go one step further and extract pipe_bpp from the DSI pixel format when dithering is disabled. First of all GMCH can be considered a feature by itself since it is a chip present in some platforms that connects the IA processor to memory and other components in PC. Also with the introduction of display block at device info, we got a redundant definition: .display.has_gmch_display = 1, So, let's clean up things a bit and use the standardized way of has_feature on displays side. Restore our saved values for backlight. This way even with fastset on S4 resume we will correctly restore the backlight to the active values. Changes since v1: - Call enable_backlight() when backlight.level is set. On suspend backlight.enabled is always cleared, this makes it not a good indicator. Also check for crtc->state->active. The display engine has 2 dithering enable bits which both need to be set for dithering to happen, 1 in the PIPECONF register which is taken care of by i9xx_set_pipeconf() and a second bit at the encoder level. The dsi code was not setting the encoder level dithering enable bit causing dithering to be disabled, this commit fixes this. 2019-01-21drm/i915/dsi: Fix pipe_bpp for handling for 6 bpc pixel-formatsHans de Goede
There are 3 problems with the dsi code's pipe_bpp handling for 6 bpc pixel-formats which this commit addresses: 1) It assumes that the pipe_bpp is the same as the bpp going over the dsi lanes. This assumption is not valid for MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666, where pipe_bpp should be 18 so that we do proper dithering but we actually send 24 bpp over the dsi lanes (MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666_PACKED sends 18 bpp). This assumption is enforced by an assert in *_dsi_get_pclk(). This assert triggers on the initial hw-state readback on BYT/CHT devices which use MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666, such as the Prowise PT301 tablet. PIPECONF is set to 6BPC / 18 bpp by the GOP, while mipi_dsi_pixel_format_to_bpp() returns 24. This commits switches the calculations in *_dsi_get_pclk() to use the bpp from mipi_dsi_pixel_format_to_bpp(intel_dsi->pixel_format) which returns the bpp going over the mipi lanes and drops the assert. 2) On BXT bxt_dsi_get_pipe_config() wrongly overrides the pipe_bpp which i9xx_get_pipe_config() reads from PIPECONF with the return value from mipi_dsi_pixel_format_to_bpp(). This avoids the assert from 1. but is wrong since the pipe is actually running at the value configured in PIPECONF. This commit drops the override of pipe_bpp from bxt_dsi_get_pipe_config(). 3) The dsi encoder's compute_config() never assigns a value to pipe_bpp, unlike most other encoders. Falling back on compute_baseline_pipe_bpp() which always picks 24. 24 is only correct for MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB88 for the others we should use 18 bpp so that we correctly do 6bpc color dithering. This commit adds code to intel_dsi_compute_config() to properly set pipe_bpp based on intel_dsi->pixel_format. 2019-01-16drm/i915: Pass down rc in intel_encoder->compute_config()Lyude Paul
Something that I completely missed when implementing the new MST VCPI atomic helpers is that with those helpers, there's technically a chance of us having to grab additional modeset locks in ->compute_config() and furthermore, that means we have the potential to hit a normal modeset deadlock. However, because ->compute_config() only returns a bool this means we can't return -EDEADLK when we need to drop locks and try again which means we end up just failing the atomic check permanently. Whoops. So, fix this by modifying ->compute_config() to pass down an actual error code instead of a bool so that the atomic check can be restarted on modeset deadlocks. 2019-01-14drm/i915: Markup paired operations on display power domainsChris Wilson
The majority of runtime-pm operations are bounded and scoped within a function; these are easy to verify that the wakeref are handled correctly. We can employ the compiler to help us, and reduce the number of wakerefs tracked when debugging, by passing around cookies provided by the various rpm_get functions to their rpm_put counterpart. This makes the pairing explicit, and given the required wakeref cookie the compiler can verify that we pass an initialised value to the rpm_put (quite handy for double checking error paths). 2018-11-13drm/i915: Determine DSI panel orientation from VBTVille Syrjälä
VBT appears to have two (or possibly three) ways to indicate the panel rotation. The first is in the MIPI config block, but that apparenly usually (maybe always?) indicates 0 degrees despite the actual panel orientation. The second way to indicate this is in the general features block, which can just indicate whether 180 degress rotation is used. The third might be a separate rotation data block, but that is not at all documented so who knows what it may contain. Let's try the first two. We first try the DSI specicic VBT information, and it it doesn't look trustworthy (ie. indicates 0 degrees) we fall back to the 180 degree thing. Just to avoid too many changes in one go we shall also keep the hardware readout path for now. Let's make sure the DSI port is actually on before we go poking at the plane register to determine which way it's rotated. Otherwise we could be looking at a plane that is feeding a HDMI port for instance. And in order to read the plane register we need the power well to be on. Make sure that is indeed the case. 2018-07-06drm/i915/dsi: use vlv and bxt prefixes for the global DSI functionsJani Nikula
Avoid confusion with the functions to be added for the new ICL or gen 11 DSI implementation by renaming the current DSI functions. While at it, permutate the words in the function names to make them all start with "vlv_dsi" or "vlv_dsi_pll" etc. Reduce the platform abstractions in the PLL file while at it, moving the checks to vlv_dsi.c instead, where we typically already have the necessary if ladders. Leave the static functions as-is for now; they could be renamed later if needed. No functional changes. v2: use "gen7" prefix. v3: use "vlv" and "bxt" prefixes, reduce the abstractions. 2018-07-06drm/i915/dsi: rename the current DSI files based on first platformJani Nikula
Starting from ICL or gen 11 we have a new DSI block which requires completely different programming from the current implementation. Having them in the same file would be confusing.
