2025-03-05media: cx231xx: set device_caps for 417Hans Verkuil
The video_device for the MPEG encoder did not set device_caps. Add this, otherwise the video device can't be registered (you get a WARN_ON instead). Not seen before since currently 417 support is disabled, but I found this while experimenting with it. The code is running arithmetics with the enum, which when not done with care makes the compiler a bit nervous. Because those enums are only used as defines (no argument or variable from that enumeration type), convert it into a define and move on. 2024-10-28media: usb: drop vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finishHans Verkuil
Since commit 88785982a19d ("media: vb2: use lock if wait_prepare/finish are NULL") it is no longer needed to set the wait_prepare/finish vb2_ops callbacks as long as the lock field in vb2_queue is set. Since the vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finish callbacks already rely on that field, we can safely drop these callbacks. Add Dexatek Technology Ltd USB Video Grabber 1d19:6108 to the cx231xx driver. This device is sold under the name "BAUHN DVD Maker (DK8723)" by ALDI in Australia. This device is similar to 1d19:6109, which is already included in cx231xx. Both video and audio capture function correctly after installing the patched cx231xx driver. 2024-10-12media: cx231xx: Fix the S-Video capture on August VGB100Fabio Luongo
There are three separate issues preventing color capture with S-Video on August VGB100 with the cx231xx driver (same vid/pid as OTG102): 1. `cx231xx_set_decoder_video_input` is called with a u32 passed as its third argument, yet this functions expects a u8 instead. Some information about the configuration of the video mux is lost in the conversion, so that ch2 and ch3 do not get set by `cx231xx_afe_set_input_mux` (expecting a u32 but being passed a u8). 2. The input pin for the chroma signal is not correctly specified in cx231xx-cards.c, which can be verified by looking at the inf file coming with the VGB100 and OTG102' drivers for Windows. The mistake in the cx231xx driver likely stems from a wrong comment in the same file, suggesting VIN1_2 for chroma, while VIN3_2 is actually used. 3. Even after fixing the two issues above, the captured stream remains essentially B&W (although acquiring some pale green shades, suggesting we're moving in the right direction). After tests with somewhat random changes, it was found that removing `CX25840_SVIDEO_ON` from the vmux configuration in cx231xx-cards.c results in a captured stream with the expected colors. 2024-05-13i2c: mux: Remove class argument from i2c_mux_add_adapter()Heiner Kallweit
99a741aa7a2d ("i2c: mux: gpio: remove support for class-based device instantiation") removed the last call to i2c_mux_add_adapter() with a non-null class argument. Therefore the class argument can be removed. Note: Class-based device instantiation is a legacy mechanism which shouldn't be used in new code, so we can rule out that this argument may be needed again in the future. 2023-12-07media: cx231xx: fix a memleak in cx231xx_init_isocZhipeng Lu
The dma_q->p_left_data alloced by kzalloc should be freed in all the following error handling paths. However, it hasn't been freed in the allocation error paths of dev->video_mode.isoc_ctl.urb and dev->video_mode.isoc_ctl.transfer_buffer. On the other hand, the dma_q->p_left_data did be freed in the error-handling paths after that of dev->video_mode.isoc_ctl.urb and dev->video_mode.isoc_ctl.transfer_buffer, by calling cx231xx_uninit_isoc(dev). So the same free operation should be done in error-handling paths of those two allocation. 2020-11-17media: cx231xx: Use snd_card_free_when_closed() instead of snd_card_free().Zebediah Figura
cx231xx_close_extension and hence cx231xx_audio_fini() are called with the cx231xx device lock held, but snd_cx231xx_pcm_close() also grabs that mutex when closing the file on behalf of arecord. There seems to be no reason to wait for sound card resources to be released, so let the release be asynchronous. Tested with a Hauppauge 955Q (2040:b123) and Linux 5.9.6; the hang described in the bug no longer occurs and disconnecting the device correctly terminates arecord with ENODEV. list_for_each_entry is able to handle an empty list. The only effect of avoiding the loop is not initializing the index variable. Drop list_empty tests in cases where these variables are not used. Note that list_for_each_entry is defined in terms of list_first_entry, which indicates that it should not be used on an empty list. But in list_for_each_entry, the element obtained by list_first_entry is not really accessed, only the address of its list_head field is compared to the address of the list head, so the list_first_entry is safe. The boards listed below use i2c device drivers and have tuner_type equal TUNER_ABSENT. This means additional support is required to enable the analog tuning capability, a case statement is used to identify these models. Models with analog tuning enabled: - CX231XX_BOARD_HAUPPAUGE_930C_HD_1114xx (tested) - CX231XX_BOARD_HAUPPAUGE_935C (tested) - CX231XX_BOARD_HAUPPAUGE_955Q (tested) - CX231XX_BOARD_HAUPPAUGE_975 (tested) - CX231XX_BOARD_EVROMEDIA_FULL_HYBRID_FULLHD (untested) The EvroMedia model was added, since it uses the si2157 tuner and the board profile claims it has analog inputs. 2020-04-14media: Kconfig: better support hybrid TV devicesMauro Carvalho Chehab
Right now, if one has an hybrid TV card, it has to select both analog and digital TV support, as otherwise the needed core support won't be selected. Change the logic to auto-select the core support for those drivers, as this is a way more intuitive. It should be noticed that, as now both DVB_CORE and VIDEO_DEV defaults depends on selecting a hybrid cards, we had to remove the explicit dependencies there, in order to avoid circular dependencies. That requires some tricks: 1) the prompt should not be not visible when an hybrid card is selected, as the user shold not change it. 2) When a media hybrid device is selected, the modular option for DVB_CORE and VIDEO_DEV will follow the MEDIA_SUPPORT dependency, as we can't have a core built with "y" with a driver built as module. With the recent change in ALSA PCM core, the whole open-coded vmalloc buffer handling in this driver can be dropped by replacing with the managed buffer allocation. Also, snd_cx231xx_hw_capture_free() is dropped since the check of stream_started flag makes no sense; hw_free callback is guaranteed to be called after the stream gets stopped.
