2022-02-10spi: mxic: Fix the transmit pathMiquel Raynal
By working with external hardware ECC engines, we figured out that Under certain circumstances, it is needed for the SPI controller to check INT_TX_EMPTY and INT_RX_NOT_EMPTY in both receive and transmit path (not only in the receive path). The delay penalty being negligible, move this code in the common path. 2022-02-10spi: spi-mem: Add an ecc parameter to the spi_mem_op structureMiquel Raynal
Soon the SPI-NAND core will need a way to request a SPI controller to enable ECC support for a given operation. This is because of the pipelined integration of certain ECC engines, which are directly managed by the SPI controller itself. Introduce a spi_mem_op additional field for this purpose: ecc. So far this field is left unset and checked to be false by all the SPI controller drivers in their ->supports_op() hook, as they all call spi_mem_default_supports_op(). 2022-02-10spi: spi-mem: Kill the spi_mem_dtr_supports_op() helperMiquel Raynal
Now that spi_mem_default_supports_op() has access to the static controller capabilities (relating to memory operations), and now that these capabilities have been filled by the relevant controllers, there is no need for a specific helper checking only DTR operations, so let's just kill spi_mem_dtr_supports_op() and simply use spi_mem_default_supports_op() instead. 2022-02-10spi: spi-mem: Check the controller extra capabilitiesMiquel Raynal
Controllers can now provide a spi-mem capabilities structure. Let's make use of it in spi_mem_controller_default_supports_op(). As we want to check for DTR operations as well as normal operations in a single helper, let's pull the necessary checks from spi_mem_dtr_supports_op() for now. However, because no controller provide these extra capabilities, this change has no effect so far. After numerous patches nearly all drivers already return 0 unconditionally. 2022-02-09spi: make remove callback a void functionUwe Kleine-König
The value returned by an spi driver's remove function is mostly ignored. (Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the error is ignored.) So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to return 0 before. Reading from memory is 3x faster than bit-bang read operation. Also, for tl-wr2543nd, the bit-bang read was sporadically returning random data, possibly a HW defect, while fast-read works as expected. 2022-02-08spi: spi-zynq-qspi: Fix a NULL pointer dereference in zynq_qspi_exec_mem_op()Zhou Qingyang
In zynq_qspi_exec_mem_op(), kzalloc() is directly used in memset(), which could lead to a NULL pointer dereference on failure of kzalloc(). Fix this bug by adding a check of tmpbuf. This bug was found by a static analyzer. The analysis employs differential checking to identify inconsistent security operations (e.g., checks or kfrees) between two code paths and confirms that the inconsistent operations are not recovered in the current function or the callers, so they constitute bugs. Note that, as a bug found by static analysis, it can be a false positive or hard to trigger. Multiple researchers have cross-reviewed the bug. Builds with CONFIG_SPI_ZYNQ_QSPI=m show no new warnings, and our static analyzer no longer warns about this code. This driver is already relying on the core to provide valid GPIO numbers in spi->cs_gpio through of_spi_get_gpio_numbers(), so we can switch to letting the core use GPIO descriptors instead. The driver was assigning a local function to the custom chipselect callback, but I chose to just open code the gpiod setting instead, this is easier to read. The only platform that overrides the cs_control callback is the mpc832x_rdb. 2022-01-31spi: pxa2xx_spi: Convert to use GPIO descriptorsLinus Walleij
This converts the PXA2xx SPI driver to use GPIO descriptors exclusively to retrieve GPIO chip select lines. The device tree and ACPI paths of the driver already use descriptors, hence ->use_gpio_descriptors is already set and this codepath is well tested. Convert all the PXA boards providing chip select GPIOs as platform data and drop the old GPIO chipselect handling in favor of the core managing it exclusively. 2022-01-26spi: uniphier: fix reference count leak in uniphier_spi_probe()Xin Xiong
The issue happens in several error paths in uniphier_spi_probe(). When either dma_get_slave_caps() or devm_spi_register_master() returns an error code, the function forgets to decrease the refcount of both `dma_rx` and `dma_tx` objects, which may lead to refcount leaks. Fix it by decrementing the reference count of specific objects in those error paths. This driver has a bunch of custom oldstyle GPIO number-passing fields and a custom set-up callback. The good thing is: nothing in the kernel is using it. Convert the driver to use GPIO descriptors with a SPI_MASTER_GPIO_SS flag so that the local CS callback also get invoked as the hardware needs this. New users of this driver can provide GPIO descriptor tables like the other converted drivers. Commit 61367d0b8f5e ("spi: stm32: Add 'SPI_SIMPLEX_RX', 'SPI_3WIRE_RX' support for stm32f4") allowed to properly communicate with the st-gyro-spi even when there is no tx_buf provided by setting the flag SPI_MASTER_MUST_TX and thus forcing a dummy TX buffer to work in Full Duplex. This behavior should kept only for the STM32F4 and not for other compatible since the STM32H7 do support SIMPLEX_RX and SIMPLEX_TX. Add the flags variable within the struct stm32_spi_cfg so that flags used at master registration time are compatible specific. Some device driver need to communicate to qspi device during the remove process, qspi controller must be functional when spi_unregister_master() is called. To ensure this, replace devm_spi_register_master() by spi_register_master() and spi_unregister_master() is called directly in .remove callback before stopping the qspi controller.
