git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/brgl/linux Pull gpio updates from Bartosz Golaszewski: "As discussed: there's a small commit that removes the legacy GPIO line value setter callbacks as they're no longer used and a big, treewide commit that renames the new ones to the old names across all GPIO drivers at once. While at it: there are also two fixes that I picked up over the course of the merge window: - remove unused, legacy GPIO line value setters from struct gpio_chip - rename the new set callbacks back to the original names treewide - fix interrupt handling in gpio-mlxbf2 - revert a buggy immutable irqchip conversion" * tag 'gpio-updates-for-v6.17-rc1-part2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/brgl/linux: treewide: rename GPIO set callbacks back to their original names gpio: remove legacy GPIO line value setter callbacks gpio: mlxbf2: use platform_get_irq_optional() Revert "gpio: pxa: Make irq_chip immutable"

2025-08-07treewide: rename GPIO set callbacks back to their original namesBartosz Golaszewski
The conversion of all GPIO drivers to using the .set_rv() and .set_multiple_rv() callbacks from struct gpio_chip (which - unlike their predecessors - return an integer and allow the controller drivers to indicate failures to users) is now complete and the legacy ones have been removed. Rename the new callbacks back to their original names in one sweeping change. Signed-off-by: Bartosz Golaszewski <bartosz.golaszewski@linaro.org>
2025-08-02Revert "vgacon: Add check for vc_origin address range in vgacon_scroll()"Helge Deller
This reverts commit 864f9963ec6b4b76d104d595ba28110b87158003. The patch is wrong as it checks vc_origin against vc_screenbuf, while in text mode it should compare against vga_vram_base. As such it broke VGA text scrolling, which can be reproduced like this: (1) boot a kernel that is configured to use text mode VGA-console (2) type commands: ls -l /usr/bin | less -S (3) scroll up/down with cursor-down/up keys Reported-by: Jari Ruusu <jariruusu@protonmail.com> Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Cc: Yi Yang <yiyang13@huawei.com> Cc: GONG Ruiqi <gongruiqi1@huawei.com> Signed-off-by: Helge Deller <deller@gmx.de>
2025-08-02fbdev: Fix vmalloc out-of-bounds write in fast_imageblitSravan Kumar Gundu
This issue triggers when a userspace program does an ioctl FBIOPUT_CON2FBMAP by passing console number and frame buffer number. Ideally this maps console to frame buffer and updates the screen if console is visible. As part of mapping it has to do resize of console according to frame buffer info. if this resize fails and returns from vc_do_resize() and continues further. At this point console and new frame buffer are mapped and sets display vars. Despite failure still it continue to proceed updating the screen at later stages where vc_data is related to previous frame buffer and frame buffer info and display vars are mapped to new frame buffer and eventully leading to out-of-bounds write in fast_imageblit(). This bheviour is excepted only when fg_console is equal to requested console which is a visible console and updates screen with invalid struct references in fbcon_putcs(). 2025-07-27fbdev: imxfb: Check fb_add_videomode to prevent null-ptr-derefChenyuan Yang
fb_add_videomode() can fail with -ENOMEM when its internal kmalloc() cannot allocate a struct fb_modelist. If that happens, the modelist stays empty but the driver continues to register. Add a check for its return value to prevent poteintial null-ptr-deref, which is similar to the commit 17186f1f90d3 ("fbdev: Fix do_register_framebuffer to prevent null-ptr-deref in fb_videomode_to_var"). 2025-07-27fbdev: svgalib: Clean up coding styleDarshan R.
This patch addresses various coding style issues in `svgalib.c` to improve readability and better align the code with the Linux kernel's formatting standards. The changes primarily consist of: - Adjusting whitespace around operators and after keywords. - Standardizing brace placement for control flow statements. - Removing unnecessary braces on single-statement if/else blocks. - Deleting extraneous blank lines throughout the file. These changes are purely stylistic and introduce no functional modifications. Signed-off-by: Darshan R. <rathod.darshan.0896@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Helge Deller <deller@gmx.de>
2025-07-27fbdev: kyro: Use devm_ioremap_wc() for screen memGiovanni Di Santi

2025-07-27fbdev: kyro: Add missing PCI memory region requestGiovanni Di Santi
The kyro framebuffer driver did not request its PCI memory regions, which could lead to conflicts with other drivers. This change addresses the task "Request memory regions in all fbdev drivers" from the file Documentation/gpu/todo.rst. This is addressed by using the managed device functions pcim_enable_device() and pcim_request_all_regions(). This simplifies the code by making error handling and driver removal cleanup automatic for these resources. 2025-07-27fbdev: simplefb: Use of_reserved_mem_region_to_resource() for "memory-region"Rob Herring (Arm)
Use the newly added of_reserved_mem_region_to_resource() function to handle "memory-region" properties. The error handling is a bit different. "memory-region" is optional, so failed lookup is not an error. But then an error in of_address_to_resource() is treated as an error. However, that distinction is not really important. Either the region is available and usable or it is not. So now, it is just of_reserved_mem_region_to_resource() which is checked for an error. 2025-06-05video: screen_info: Relocate framebuffers behind PCI bridgesThomas Zimmermann
Apply PCI host-bridge window offsets to screen_info framebuffers. Fixes invalid access to I/O memory. Resources behind a PCI host bridge can be relocated by a certain offset in the kernel's CPU address range used for I/O. The framebuffer memory range stored in screen_info refers to the CPU addresses as seen during boot (where the offset is 0). During boot up, firmware may assign a different memory offset to the PCI host bridge and thereby relocating the framebuffer address of the PCI graphics device as seen by the kernel. The information in screen_info must be updated as well. The helper pcibios_bus_to_resource() performs the relocation of the screen_info's framebuffer resource (given in PCI bus addresses). The result matches the I/O-memory resource of the PCI graphics device (given in CPU addresses). As before, we store away the information necessary to later update the information in screen_info itself. Commit 78aa89d1dfba ("firmware/sysfb: Update screen_info for relocated EFI framebuffers") added the code for updating screen_info. It is based on similar functionality that pre-existed in efifb. Efifb uses a pointer to the PCI resource, while the newer code does a memcpy of the region. Hence efifb sees any updates to the PCI resource and avoids the issue. v3: - Only use struct pci_bus_region for PCI bus addresses (Bjorn) - Clarify address semantics in commit messages and comments (Bjorn) v2: - Fixed tags (Takashi, Ivan) - Updated information on efifb Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Reviewed-by: Javier Martinez Canillas <javierm@redhat.com> Reported-by: "Ivan T. Our further experiments show that in most cases, vc->vc_origin equals to vga_vram_base when the console is in KD_TEXT mode, and it's around vc->vc_screenbuf for the KD_GRAPHICS mode. But via triggerring a TIOCL_SETVESABLANK ioctl beforehand, we can make vc->vc_origin be around vc->vc_screenbuf while the console is in KD_TEXT mode, and then by writing the special 'ESC M' control sequence to the tty certain times (depends on the value of `vc->state.y - vc->vc_top`), we can eventually move vc->vc_origin prior to vc->vc_screenbuf. Here's the PoC, tested on QEMU: ``` int main() { const int RI_NUM = 10; // should be greater than `vc->state.y - vc->vc_top` int tty_fd, vcs_fd; const char *tty_path = "/dev/tty0"; const char *vcs_path = "/dev/vcs"; const char escape_seq[] = "\x1bM"; // ESC + M const char trigger_seq[] = "Let's trigger an OOB write."; struct vt_sizes vt_size = { 70, 2 }; int blank = TIOCL_BLANKSCREEN; tty_fd = open(tty_path, O_RDWR); char vesa_mode[] = { TIOCL_SETVESABLANK, 1 }; ioctl(tty_fd, TIOCLINUX, vesa_mode); ioctl(tty_fd, TIOCLINUX, &blank); ioctl(tty_fd, VT_RESIZE, &vt_size); for (int i = 0; i < RI_NUM; ++i) write(tty_fd, escape_seq, sizeof(escape_seq) - 1); vcs_fd = open(vcs_path, O_RDWR); write(vcs_fd, trigger_seq, sizeof(trigger_seq)); close(vcs_fd); close(tty_fd); return 0; } ``` To solve this problem, add an address range validation check in vgacon_scroll(), ensuring vc->vc_origin never precedes vc_screenbuf. 2025-05-31fbdev: arkfb: Cast ics5342_init() allocation typeKees Cook
In preparation for making the kmalloc family of allocators type aware, we need to make sure that the returned type from the allocation matches the type of the variable being assigned. (Before, the allocator would always return "void *", which can be implicitly cast to any pointer type.) The assigned type is "struct dac_info *" but the returned type will be "struct ics5342_info *", which has a larger allocation size. This is by design, as struct ics5342_info contains struct dac_info as its first member. 2025-05-31fbdev: nvidiafb: Correct const string length in nvidiafb_setup()Zijun Hu
The actual length of const string "noaccel" is 7, but the strncmp() branch in nvidiafb_setup() wrongly hard codes it as 6. Fix by using actual length 7 as argument of the strncmp(). Signed-off-by: Zijun Hu <quic_zijuhu@quicinc.com> Signed-off-by: Helge Deller <deller@gmx.de>
