2025-05-07KVM: arm64: Introduce CONFIG_UBSAN_KVM_EL2Mostafa Saleh
Add a new Kconfig CONFIG_UBSAN_KVM_EL2 for KVM which enables UBSAN for EL2 code (in protected/nvhe/hvhe) modes. This will re-use the same checks enabled for the kernel for the hypervisor. The only difference is that for EL2 it always emits a "brk" instead of implementing hooks as the hypervisor can't print reports. The KVM code will re-use the same code for the kernel "report_ubsan_failure()" so #ifdefs are changed to also have this code for CONFIG_UBSAN_KVM_EL2 Signed-off-by: Mostafa Saleh <smostafa@google.com> Reviewed-by: Kees Cook <kees@kernel.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20250430162713.1997569-4-smostafa@google.com Signed-off-by: Marc Zyngier <maz@kernel.org>
2025-05-07ubsan: Remove regs from report_ubsan_failure()Mostafa Saleh
report_ubsan_failure() doesn't use argument regs, and soon it will be called from the hypervisor context were regs are not available. So, remove the unused argument. 2024-08-06x86/traps: Enable UBSAN traps on x86Gatlin Newhouse
Currently ARM64 extracts which specific sanitizer has caused a trap via encoded data in the trap instruction. Clang on x86 currently encodes the same data in the UD1 instruction but x86 handle_bug() and is_valid_bugaddr() currently only look at UD2. Bring x86 to parity with ARM64, similar to commit 25b84002afb9 ("arm64: Support Clang UBSAN trap codes for better reporting"). See the llvm links for information about the code generation. Enable the reporting of UBSAN sanitizer details on x86 compiled with clang when CONFIG_UBSAN_TRAP=y by analysing UD1 and retrieving the type immediate which is encoded by the compiler after the UD1. 2023-02-08arm64: Support Clang UBSAN trap codes for better reportingKees Cook
When building with CONFIG_UBSAN_TRAP=y on arm64, Clang encodes the UBSAN check (handler) type in the esr. Extract this and actually report these traps as coming from the specific UBSAN check that tripped. Before: Internal error: BRK handler: 00000000f20003e8 [#1] PREEMPT SMP After: Internal error: UBSAN: shift out of bounds: 00000000f2005514 [#1] PREEMPT SMP Acked-by: Mark Rutland <mark.rutland@arm.com> Reviewed-by: Ard Biesheuvel <ardb@kernel.org> Acked-by: Mukesh Ojha <quic_mojha@quicinc.com> Reviewed-by: Fangrui Song <maskray@google.com> Cc: Catalin Marinas <catalin.marinas@arm.com> Cc: Will Deacon <will@kernel.org> Cc: John Stultz <jstultz@google.com> Cc: Yongqin Liu <yongqin.liu@linaro.org> Cc: Sami Tolvanen <samitolvanen@google.com> Cc: Yury Norov <yury.norov@gmail.com> Cc: Andrey Konovalov <andreyknvl@gmail.com> Cc: Marco Elver <elver@google.com> Cc: linux-arm-kernel@lists.infradead.org Cc: llvm@lists.linux.dev Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org>
