2025-06-29ASoC: fsl_sai: Force a software reset when starting in consumer modeArun Raghavan
On an imx8mm platform with an external clock provider, when running the receiver (arecord) and triggering an xrun with xrun_injection, we see a channel swap/offset. This happens sometimes when running only the receiver, but occurs reliably if a transmitter (aplay) is also concurrently running. It seems that the SAI loses track of frame sync during the trigger stop -> trigger start cycle that occurs during an xrun. Doing just a FIFO reset in this case does not suffice, and only a software reset seems to get it back on track. This looks like the same h/w bug that is already handled for the producer case, so we now do the reset unconditionally on config disable. 2025-04-06ASoC: fsl_sai: add xlate_tdm_slot_mask() callbackShengjiu Wang
With DPCM case, for example ASRC->SAI->AMIX, the SAI can be codec dai device in backend, but __soc_pcm_hw_params() will get the tdm_mask for channel constraint, tdm_mask is set by snd_soc_dai_set_tdm_slot() from slot number, but SAI supports flexible channel number with fixed slot number, so add an empty xlate_tdm_slot_mask() callback to avoid the channel constraint in __soc_pcm_hw_params(). 2025-04-06ASoC: fsl_sai: allow to set mclk rate with zero clk_idShengjiu Wang
If clk_id is zero, it means FSL_SAI_CLK_BUS in fsl_sai_set_dai_sysclk(), as the clk[FSL_SAI_CLK_BUS]'s rate can't be changed, there is no rate changed for mclk. But with audio-graph-card, the clk_id is always zero, in order to allow to set mclk rate with zero clk_id, update the condition to be if clk_id is zero, then set the FSL_SAI_CLK_MAST1's rate. This would not change the original function for master mode. 2023-10-09ASoC: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it was merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2023-07-09ASoC: fsl_sai: Revert "ASoC: fsl_sai: Enable MCTL_MCLK_EN bit for master mode"Fabio Estevam
This reverts commit ff87d619ac180444db297f043962a5c325ded47b. Andreas reports that on an i.MX8MP-based system where MCLK needs to be used as an input, the MCLK pin is actually an output, despite not having the 'fsl,sai-mclk-direction-output' property present in the devicetree. This is caused by commit ff87d619ac18 ("ASoC: fsl_sai: Enable MCTL_MCLK_EN bit for master mode") that sets FSL_SAI_MCTL_MCLK_EN unconditionally for imx8mm/8mn/8mp/93, causing the MCLK to always be configured as output. FSL_SAI_MCTL_MCLK_EN corresponds to the MOE (MCLK Output Enable) bit of register MCR and the drivers sets it when the 'fsl,sai-mclk-direction-output' devicetree property is present. Revert the commit to allow SAI to use MCLK as input as well. On i.MX8MP, the sai MCLK is bound with TX/RX enable bit, which means the TX/RE enable bit need to be enabled then MCLK can be output on PAD. The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. 2022-10-28ASoC: fsl_sai: Specify the maxburst to 8 on i.MX93 platformChancel Liu
There is a limit to eDMA AXI on i.MX93. Only TCD that has NBYTES in a multiple of 8bytes can enable scatter-gather. NBYTES is calculated by bus width times maxburst. On i.MX93 platform the value of maxburst is specified to 8. It makes sure that NBYTES is a multiple of 8bytes. 2022-08-17ASoC: fsl_sai: Remove unnecessary FIFO reset in ISRShengjiu Wang
The FIFO reset drops the words in the FIFO, which may cause channel swap when SAI module is running, especially when the DMA speed is low. So it is not good to do FIFO reset in ISR, then remove the operation. 2022-06-29ASoC: Refactor non_legacy_dai_naming flagMark Brown
Merge series from Charles Keepax <ckeepax@opensource.cirrus.com>: Historically, the legacy DAI naming scheme was applied to platform drivers and the newer scheme to CODEC drivers. During componentisation the core lost the knowledge of if a driver was a CODEC or platform, they were all now components. To continue to support the legacy naming on older platform drivers a flag was added to the snd_soc_component_driver structure, non_legacy_dai_naming, to indicate to use the new scheme and this was applied to all CODECs as part of the migration. However, a slight issue appears to be developing with respect to this flag being opt in for the non-legacy scheme, which presumably we want to be the primary scheme used. Many codec drivers appear to forget to include this flag: grep -l -r "snd_soc_component_driver" sound/soc/codecs/*.c | xargs grep -L "non_legacy_dai_naming" | wc 48 48 556 Whilst in many cases the configuration of the DAIs themselves will cause the core to apply the new scheme anyway, it would seem more sensible to change the flag to legacy_dai_naming making the new scheme opt out. This patch series migrates across to such a scheme.
