2025-02-18selftests: bpf: test batch lookup on array of maps with holesYan Zhai
Iterating through array of maps may encounter non existing keys. The batch operation should not fail on when this happens. 2024-12-06selftests/bpf: Add more test cases for LPM trieHou Tao
Add more test cases for LPM trie in test_maps: 1) test_lpm_trie_update_flags It constructs various use cases for BPF_EXIST and BPF_NOEXIST and check whether the return value of update operation is expected. 2) test_lpm_trie_update_full_maps It tests the update operations on a full LPM trie map. Adding new node will fail and overwriting the value of existed node will succeed. 3) test_lpm_trie_iterate_strs and test_lpm_trie_iterate_ints There two test cases test whether the iteration through get_next_key is sorted and expected. These two test cases delete the minimal key after each iteration and check whether next iteration returns the second minimal key. The only difference between these two test cases is the former one saves strings in the LPM trie and the latter saves integers. Without the fix of get_next_key, these two cases will fail as shown below: test_lpm_trie_iterate_strs(1091):FAIL:iterate #2 got abc exp abS test_lpm_trie_iterate_ints(1142):FAIL:iterate #1 got 0x2 exp 0x1 Signed-off-by: Hou Tao <houtao1@huawei.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20241206110622.1161752-10-houtao@huaweicloud.com Signed-off-by: Alexei Starovoitov <ast@kernel.org>
2024-12-06selftests/bpf: Move test_lpm_map.c to map_testsHou Tao
Move test_lpm_map.c to map_tests/ to include LPM trie test cases in regular test_maps run. Most code remains unchanged, including the use of assert(). Only reduce n_lookups from 64K to 512, which decreases test_lpm_map runtime from 37s to 0.7s. 2024-11-26selftests/bpf: Check for PREEMPTION instead of PREEMPTSebastian Andrzej Siewior
CONFIG_PREEMPT is a preemtion model the so called "Low-Latency Desktop". A different preemption model is PREEMPT_RT the so called "Real-Time". Both implement preemption in kernel and set CONFIG_PREEMPTION. There is also the so called "LAZY PREEMPT" which the "Scheduler controlled preemption model". Here we have also preemption in the kernel the rules are slightly different. Therefore the testsuite should not check for CONFIG_PREEMPT (as one model) but for CONFIG_PREEMPTION to figure out if preemption in the kernel is possible. Cross-merge bpf fixes after downstream PR. In particular to bring the fix in commit aa30eb3260b2 ("bpf: Force checkpoint when jmp history is too long"). The follow up verifier work depends on it. And the fix in commit 6801cf7890f2 ("selftests/bpf: Use -4095 as the bad address for bits iterator"). It's fixing instability of BPF CI on s390 arch. No conflicts. 2023-11-09selftsets/bpf: Retry map update for non-preallocated per-cpu mapHou Tao
BPF CI failed due to map_percpu_stats_percpu_hash from time to time [1]. It seems that the failure reason is per-cpu bpf memory allocator may not be able to allocate per-cpu pointer successfully and it can not refill free llist timely, and bpf_map_update_elem() will return -ENOMEM. So mitigate the problem by retrying the update operation for non-preallocated per-cpu map. 2023-11-09selftests/bpf: Use value with enough-size when updating per-cpu mapHou Tao

The expected size of the value is 8 * num_possible_cpus(), so fix it by passing a value with enough-size for per-cpu map update. 2023-07-06selftests/bpf: test map percpu statsAnton Protopopov
Add a new map test, map_percpu_stats.c, which is checking the correctness of map's percpu elements counters. For supported maps the test upserts a number of elements, checks the correctness of the counters, then deletes all the elements and checks again that the counters sum drops down to zero. The following map types are tested: * BPF_MAP_TYPE_HASH, BPF_F_NO_PREALLOC * BPF_MAP_TYPE_PERCPU_HASH, BPF_F_NO_PREALLOC * BPF_MAP_TYPE_HASH, * BPF_MAP_TYPE_PERCPU_HASH, * BPF_MAP_TYPE_LRU_HASH * BPF_MAP_TYPE_LRU_PERCPU_HASH * BPF_MAP_TYPE_LRU_HASH, BPF_F_NO_COMMON_LRU * BPF_MAP_TYPE_LRU_PERCPU_HASH, BPF_F_NO_COMMON_LRU * BPF_MAP_TYPE_HASH_OF_MAPS Signed-off-by: Anton Protopopov <aspsk@isovalent.com> Acked-by: Hou Tao <houtao1@huawei.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230706133932.45883-6-aspsk@isovalent.com Signed-off-by: Alexei Starovoitov <ast@kernel.org>

2022-09-19selftests/bpf: Add test result messages for test_task_storage_map_stress_lookupHou Tao
Add test result message when test_task_storage_map_stress_lookup() succeeds or is skipped. The following is the output of test_maps when the test case succeeds or is skipped: test_task_storage_map_stress_lookup:PASS test_maps: OK, 0 SKIPPED test_task_storage_map_stress_lookup SKIP (no CONFIG_PREEMPT) test_maps: OK, 1 SKIPPED Fixes: 73b97bc78b32 ("selftests/bpf: Test concurrent updates on bpf_task_storage_busy") Signed-off-by: Hou Tao <houtao1@huawei.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20220919035714.2195144-1-houtao@huaweicloud.com Signed-off-by: Martin KaFai Lau <martin.lau@kernel.org>
2022-09-01selftests/bpf: Test concurrent updates on bpf_task_storage_busyHou Tao
Under full preemptible kernel, task local storage lookup operations on the same CPU may update per-cpu bpf_task_storage_busy concurrently. If the update of bpf_task_storage_busy is not preemption safe, the final value of bpf_task_storage_busy may become not-zero forever and bpf_task_storage_trylock() will always fail. So add a test case to ensure the update of bpf_task_storage_busy is preemption safe. Will skip the test case when CONFIG_PREEMPT is disabled, and it can only reproduce the problem probabilistically. By increasing TASK_STORAGE_MAP_NR_LOOP and running it under ARM64 VM with 4-cpus, it takes about four rounds to reproduce: > test_maps is modified to only run test_task_storage_map_stress_lookup() $ export TASK_STORAGE_MAP_NR_THREAD=256 $ export TASK_STORAGE_MAP_NR_LOOP=81920 $ export TASK_STORAGE_MAP_PIN_CPU=1 $ time ./test_maps test_task_storage_map_stress_lookup(135):FAIL:bad bpf_task_storage_busy got -2 real 0m24.743s user 0m6.772s sys 0m17.966s Signed-off-by: Hou Tao <houtao1@huawei.com> Acked-by: Alexei Starovoitov <ast@kernel.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20220901061938.3789460-5-houtao@huaweicloud.com Signed-off-by: Martin KaFai Lau <martin.lau@kernel.org>
