2024-10-27drm/msm: Simplify NULL checking in msm_disp_state_dump_regs()Douglas Anderson
The msm_disp_state_dump_regs(): - Doesn't allocate if the caller already allocated. ...but there's one caller and it doesn't allocate so we don't need this check. - Checks for allocation failure over and over even though it could just do it once right after the allocation. Clean this up. 2024-10-14drm/msm: Allocate memory for disp snapshot with kvzalloc()Douglas Anderson
With the "drm/msm: add a display mmu fault handler" series [1] we saw issues in the field where memory allocation was failing when allocating space for registers in msm_disp_state_dump_regs(). Specifically we were seeing an order 5 allocation fail. It's not surprising that order 5 allocations will sometimes fail after the system has been up and running for a while. There's no need here for contiguous memory. Change the allocation to kvzalloc() which should make it much less likely to fail. 2024-10-14drm/msm: Avoid NULL dereference in msm_disp_state_print_regs()Douglas Anderson
If the allocation in msm_disp_state_dump_regs() failed then `block->state` can be NULL. The msm_disp_state_print_regs() function _does_ have code to try to handle it with: if (*reg) dump_addr = *reg; ...but since "dump_addr" is initialized to NULL the above is actually a noop. The code then goes on to dereference `dump_addr`. Make the function print "Registers not stored" when it sees a NULL to solve this. Since we're touching the code, fix msm_disp_state_print_regs() not to pointlessly take a double-pointer and properly mark the pointer as `const`. 2023-07-27drm/msm: Update dev core dump to not print backwardsRyan McCann
Device core dump add block method adds hardware blocks to dumping queue with stack behavior which causes the hardware blocks to be printed in reverse order. Change the addition to dumping queue data structure from "list_add" to "list_add_tail" for FIFO queue behavior. 2022-04-06drm/msm/disp: check the return value of kzalloc()Xiaoke Wang
kzalloc() is a memory allocation function which can return NULL when some internal memory errors happen. So it is better to check it to prevent potential wrong memory access. 2021-10-18drm/msm/dp: Support up to 3 DP controllersBjorn Andersson
Based on the removal of the g_dp_display and the movement of the priv->dp lookup into the DP code it's now possible to have multiple DP instances. In line with the other controllers in the MSM driver, introduce a per-compatible list of base addresses which is used to resolve the "instance id" for the given DP controller. This instance id is used as index in the priv->dp[] array. Then extend the initialization code to initialize struct drm_encoder for each of the registered priv->dp[] and update the logic for associating each struct msm_dp with the struct dpu_encoder_virt. A new enum is introduced to document the connection between the instances referenced in the dpu_intf_cfg array and the controllers in the DP driver and sc7180 is updated. Lastly, bump the number of struct msm_dp instances carries by priv->dp to 3, the currently known maximum number of controllers found in a Qualcomm SoC. 2021-06-23drm/msm: make msm_disp_state transient data structDmitry Baryshkov
Instead of allocating snapshotting structure at the driver probe time and later handling concurrent access, actual state, etc, make msm_disp_state transient struct.
