2022-06-14iio: accel: sca3000: Fix alignment for DMA safetyJonathan Cameron
____cacheline_aligned is insufficient guarantee for non-coherent DMA. Switch to the updated IIO_DMA_MINALIGN definition. The second alignment marking is left in place to avoid doing more than the simple fix in this patch. Fixes: ced5c03d360ae ("staging:iio:accel:sca3000 merge files into one.") 2022-04-10iio: core: Simplify the registration of kfifo buffersMiquel Raynal
Among all the users of the kfifo buffers, no one uses the INDIO_BUFFER_HARDWARE mode. So let's take this as a general rule and simplify a little bit the internals - overall the documentation - by eliminating unused specific cases. Use the INDIO_BUFFER_SOFTWARE mode by default with kfifo buffers, which will basically mimic what all the "non direct" modes do. 2022-02-09spi: make remove callback a void functionUwe Kleine-König
The value returned by an spi driver's remove function is mostly ignored. (Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the error is ignored.) So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to return 0 before. 2021-03-11iio: accel: sca3000: use devm_iio_kfifo_buffer_setup() helperAlexandru Ardelean
This change makes use of the devm_iio_kfifo_buffer_setup() helper, however the unwind order is changed. The life-time of the kfifo object is attached to the parent device object. This is to make the driver a bit more consistent with the other IIO drivers, even though (as it is now before this change) it shouldn't be a problem. 2020-06-14iio: remove explicit IIO device parent assignmentAlexandru Ardelean
This patch applies the semantic patch: @@ expression I, P, SP; @@ I = devm_iio_device_alloc(P, SP); ... - I->dev.parent = P; It updates 302 files and does 307 deletions. This semantic patch also removes some comments like '/* Establish that the iio_dev is a child of the i2c device */' But this is is only done in case where the block is left empty. The patch does not seem to cover all cases. It looks like in some cases a different variable is used in some cases to assign the parent, but it points to the same reference. In other cases, the block covered by ... may be just too big to be covered by the semantic patch. However, this looks pretty good as well, as it does cover a big bulk of the drivers that should remove the parent assignment. This is part of a long running effort to simplify the core code. * stm32-dfsdm: - Manage the resolution cleanly in triggerd modes. - Add fast mode support which allows more flexible filter choices. - Add a comment on the reason for a 16 bit record when technically not 'required'. * st_lsm6dsx - Embed device name in the sensor_settings struct as i3c doesn't have a convenient name field to use for this. * xilinx-adc - Relax constraints on supported platforms to reflect that this can used with FPGAs on PCIe cards and hence many architectures. * counters/ftm-quaddec - Fix some formatting io MODULE_AUTHOR - MAINTAINERS entry Fixes * tools - fix incorrect handling of 32 bit channels. * sca3000 - Potential endian bug that is unlikely to bite anyone (be64 host seems unlikely for this old part). * stm32-adc - Add vdda-supply.
