2024-02-05media: cx231xx: controls are from another device, mark thisHans Verkuil
The last argument of v4l2_ctrl_add_handler() indicates whether the controls you add are from a control handler owned by another driver (true) or from the same driver (false). 2018-11-20media: cropcap/g_selection splitHans Verkuil
If g_selection is implemented, then the v4l2-ioctl cropcap code assumes that cropcap just implements the pixelaspect part and that g_selection provides the crop bounds and default rectangles. There are still some drivers that only implement cropcap and not g_selection. Split up cropcap into a cropcap and g_selection for those drivers. The latest versions of Google camera and codec HAL depends on such feature. At this stage, it supports only stateless codecs. This series contain both the API and core changes required to support it and a new m2m decoder driver (cedrus). As the current API is still experimental, the only real driver using it (cedrus) was added at staging[1]. We intend to keep it there for a while, in order to test the API. In order to have subsytem agnostic media bus format definitions we've moved media bus definition to include/uapi/linux/media-bus-format.h and prefixed enum values with MEDIA_BUS_FMT instead of V4L2_MBUS_FMT. Reference new definitions in all usb drivers. Unfortunately, on devices that have multiple interfaces, udev->dev points to the parent device (usb) instead of the cx231xx specific one. Due to that the logs don't look too nice, as they'll print messages as if they were produced by USB core: usb-1-2: New device Conexant Corporation Polaris AV Capturb @ 480 Mbps (1554:5010) with 7 interfaces Instead of using the name of the parent device, let's use the name of the first cx231xx interface for all cx231xx sub-modules. There are lots of debug printks printed with pr_info. Also, the printk's data are not too coherent: - there are duplicated driver name at the print format; - function name format string differs from function to function; - long strings broken into multiple lines; - some printks just produce ugly reports, being almost useless as-is. Do a cleanup on that. Still, there are much to be done in order to do a better printk job on this driver, but, at least it will now be a way less verbose, if debug printks are disabled, and some logs might actually be useful. 2014-07-17[media] v4l: Support extending the v4l2_pix_format structureLaurent Pinchart
The v4l2_pix_format structure has no reserved field. It is embedded in the v4l2_framebuffer structure which has no reserved fields either, and in the v4l2_format structure which has reserved fields that were not previously required to be zeroed out by applications. To allow extending v4l2_pix_format, inline it in the v4l2_framebuffer structure, and use the priv field as a magic value to indicate that the application has set all v4l2_pix_format extended fields and zeroed all reserved fields following the v4l2_pix_format field in the v4l2_format structure. The availability of this API extension is reported to userspace through the new V4L2_CAP_EXT_PIX_FORMAT capability flag. Just checking that the priv field is still set to the magic value at [GS]_FMT return wouldn't be enough, as older kernels don't zero the priv field on return. To simplify the internal API towards drivers zero the extended fields and set the priv field to the magic value for applications not aware of the extensions.
