git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mchehab/linux-media Pull missed media updates from Mauro Carvalho Chehab: "It seems I screwed-up my previous pull request: it ends up that only half of the media patches that were in linux-next got merged in -rc1. So here are the missing parts: - a DVB core security fix - lots of fixes and cleanups for atomisp staging driver - old drivers that are VB1 are being moved to staging to be deprecated - several driver updates - mostly for embedded systems, but there are also some things addressing issues with some PC webcams, in the UVC video driver" * tag 'media/v6.1-2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mchehab/linux-media: (163 commits) media: sun6i-csi: Move csi buffer definition to main header file media: sun6i-csi: Introduce and use video helper functions media: sun6i-csi: Add media ops with link notify callback media: sun6i-csi: Remove controls handler from the driver media: sun6i-csi: Register the media device after creation media: sun6i-csi: Pass and store csi device directly in video code media: sun6i-csi: Tidy up video code media: sun6i-csi: Tidy up v4l2 code media: sun6i-csi: Tidy up Kconfig media: sun6i-csi: Use runtime pm for clocks and reset media: sun6i-csi: Define and use variant to get module clock rate media: sun6i-csi: Always set exclusive module clock rate media: sun6i-csi: Tidy up platform code media: sun6i-csi: Refactor main driver data structures media: sun6i-csi: Define and use driver name and (reworked) description media: cedrus: Add a Kconfig dependency on RESET_CONTROLLER media: sun8i-rotate: Add a Kconfig dependency on RESET_CONTROLLER media: sun8i-di: Add a Kconfig dependency on RESET_CONTROLLER media: sun4i-csi: Add a Kconfig dependency on RESET_CONTROLLER media: sun6i-csi: Add a Kconfig dependency on RESET_CONTROLLER ...

2022-09-27media: v4l2-ioctl.c: fix incorrect error pathHans Verkuil
If allocating array_buf fails, or copying data from userspace into that buffer fails, then just free memory and return the error. Don't attempt to call video_put_user() since there is no point, and it would copy back data on error even if INFO_FL_ALWAYS_COPY wasn't set. So if writing the array back to userspace fails, then don't go to out_array_args, instead just continue with the regular code that just returns the error unless 'always_copy' is set. Update the VIDIOC_G/S/TRY_EXT_CTRLS ioctls to set the ALWAYS_COPY flag since they now need it. Before this worked due to this buggy code, but now that that is fixed these ioctls need to set this flag explicitly. 2022-09-24media: mc: entity: add alloc variant of pipeline_startTomi Valkeinen
Add new variant of media_pipeline_start(), media_pipeline_alloc_start(). media_pipeline_alloc_start() can be used by drivers that do not need to extend the media_pipeline. The function will either use the pipeline already associated with the entity, if such exists, or allocate a new pipeline. When media_pipeline_stop() is called and the pipeline's use count drops to zero, the pipeline is automatically freed. 2022-09-24media: v4l2-dev: Add videodev wrappers for media pipelinesTomi Valkeinen
With the upcoming stream related improvements to the pipelines, the pipelines are moved from media entities to media pads. As the drivers currently use the pipelines with the entity based model, moving the pipelines to pads will cause changes to the drivers. However, most of the uses of media pipelines are related to a video device (a DMA engine) with a single pad, and thus there's never a need to support multiple pads in these use cases. We can avoid pushing the complexities of the pad based model to the drivers by adding video device wrappers for the pipeline related functions. This patch adds a number of wrappers to media_pipeline functions, all of which take a video_device as a parameter (instead of a media_entity), and verify that there's just one pad. 2022-09-24media: v4l2-ctrls: drop 'elems' argument from control type ops.Hans Verkuil

2022-08-16i2c: Make remove callback return voidUwe Kleine-König
The value returned by an i2c driver's remove function is mostly ignored. (Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the error is ignored.) So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to return 0 before. 2022-07-17media: v4l2-async: Add notifier operation to destroy asd instancesLaurent Pinchart
Drivers typically extend the v4l2_async_subdev structure by embedding it in a driver-specific structure, to store per-subdev custom data. The v4l2_async_subdev instances are freed by the v4l2-async framework, which makes this mechanism cumbersome to use safely when custom data needs special treatment to be destroyed (such as freeing additional memory, or releasing references to kernel objects). To ease this, add a .destroy() operation to the v4l2_async_notifier_operations structure. The operation is called right before the v4l2_async_subdev is freed, giving drivers a chance to destroy data if needed. For camera sensor devices the firmware information of which comes from non-DT (or some ACPI variants), the kernel makes the information visible to the drivers in a form similar to DT. This takes place through device's secondary fwnodes, in which case also the secondary fwnode needs to be heterogenously (endpoint vs. device) matched. If the last buffer was dequeued from the capture queue, signal userspace. DQBUF(CAPTURE) will return -EPIPE. But if output queue is empty and capture queue is empty, v4l2_m2m_poll_for_data will return EPOLLERR, This is very easy to happen in drain. When last_buffer_dequeued is set, we shouldn't return EPOLLERR, but return EPOLLIN | EPOLLRDNORM. 2022-05-17media: v4l2: Reorder field reflistNicolas Dufresne
As per spec, the field reflist requires interleaving top and bottom field in a specific way that does not fit inside the sort operation. The process consist of alternating references parity, starting with a reference of the same parity as the current picture. This processs is done twice, once for short term references and a second time for the long term references. 2022-05-17media: h264: Sort p/b reflist using frame_numNicolas Dufresne
In the reference list builder, frame_num refers to FrameNumWrap in the spec, which is the same as the pic_num for frame decoding. The same applies for long_term_pic_num and long_term_frame_idx. Sort all type of references by frame_num so the sort can be reused for fields reflist were the sorting is done using frame_num instead. In short, pic_num is never actually used for building reference lists.
