2023-12-14net: mvpp2: add support for miiStefan Eichenberger
Currently, mvpp2 only supports RGMII. This commit adds support for MII. The description in Marvell's functional specification seems to be wrong. To enable MII, we need to set GENCONF_CTRL0_PORT3_RGMII, while for RGMII we need to clear it. This is also how U-Boot handles it. Add the RSS context parameters to struct ethtool_rxfh_param and use the get/set_rxfh to handle the RSS contexts as well. 2023-12-13net: ethtool: pass a pointer to parameters to get/set_rxfh ethtool opsAhmed Zaki
The get/set_rxfh ethtool ops currently takes the rxfh (RSS) parameters as direct function arguments. This will force us to change the API (and all drivers' functions) every time some new parameters are added. This is part 1/2 of the fix, as suggested in [1]: - First simplify the code by always providing a pointer to all params (indir, key and func); the fact that some of them may be NULL seems like a weird historic thing or a premature optimization. It will simplify the drivers if all pointers are always present. - Then make the functions take a dev pointer, and a pointer to a single struct wrapping all arguments. The set_* should also take an extack. `strncpy` is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings [1] and as such we should prefer more robust and less ambiguous string interfaces. 2023-09-20net: ethernet: marvell: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert these drivers from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2023-07-27net: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. NVMEM layouts are no longer registered early, and thus may not yet be available when Ethernet drivers (or any other consumer) probe, leading to possible probe deferrals errors. Forward the error code if this happens. All other errors being discarded, the driver will eventually use a random MAC address if no other source was considered valid (no functional change on this regard). A summary of the flags being set for various drivers is given below. Note that XDP_F_REDIRECT_TARGET and XDP_F_FRAG_TARGET are features that can be turned off and on at runtime. This means that these flags may be set and unset under RTNL lock protection by the driver. Hence, READ_ONCE must be used by code loading the flag value. Also, these flags are not used for synchronization against the availability of XDP resources on a device. It is merely a hint, and hence the read may race with the actual teardown of XDP resources on the device. 2022-11-29net: mvpp2: Consider NVMEM cells as possible MAC address sourceMiquel Raynal
The ONIE standard describes the organization of tlv (type-length-value) arrays commonly stored within NVMEM devices on common networking hardware. Several drivers already make use of NVMEM cells for purposes like retrieving a default MAC address provided by the manufacturer. What made ONIE tables unusable so far was the fact that the information where "dynamically" located within the table depending on the manufacturer wishes, while Linux NVMEM support only allowed statically defined NVMEM cells. Fortunately, this limitation was eventually tackled with the introduction of discoverable cells through the use of NVMEM layouts, making it possible to extract and consistently use the content of tables like ONIE's tlv arrays. Parsing this table at runtime in order to get various information is now possible. So, because many Marvell networking switches already follow this standard, let's consider using NVMEM cells as a new valid source of information when looking for a base MAC address, which is one of the primary uses of these new fields. Indeed, manufacturers following the ONIE standard are encouraged to provide a default MAC address there, so let's eventually use it if no other MAC address has been found using the existing methods. Virtually all conventional network drivers are now converted to use phylink_generic_validate() - only DSA drivers and fman_memac remain, so lets remove the necessity for network drivers to explicitly set this member, and default to phylink_generic_validate() when unset. This is possible as .validate must currently be set. Any remaining instances that have not been addressed by this patch can be fixed up later. However, this directory is only created when the first device is probed, so the hardware is present. Removing the module is only something a developer would to when e.g. testing out changes, so the module would be reloaded. So this memory leak is minor. The original attempt in commit fe2c9c61f668 ("net: mvpp2: debugfs: fix memory leak when using debugfs_lookup()") that was labelled as a memory leak fix was not, it fixed a refcount leak, but in doing so created a problem when the module is reloaded - the directory already exists, but mvpp2_root is NULL, so we lose all debugfs entries. This fix has been reverted. This is the alternative fix, where we remove the offending directory whenever the driver is unloaded. Since commit 94dd016ae538 ("bond: pass get_ts_info and SIOC[SG]HWTSTAMP ioctl to active device") the user could get bond active interface's PHC index directly. But when there is a failover, the bond active interface will change, thus the PHC index is also changed. This may break the user's program if they did not update the PHC timely. This patch adds a new hwtstamp_config flag HWTSTAMP_FLAG_BONDED_PHC_INDEX. When the user wants to get the bond active interface's PHC, they need to add this flag and be aware the PHC index may be changed. With the new flag. All flag checks in current drivers are removed. Before the previous patch, the generated stack-trace pointed out at least the involved device driver. Let's additionally include the program name and id, and the relevant device name. If the user needs additional infos, he can fetch them via a kernel probe, leveraging the arguments added here. 2021-12-08net: mvpp2: fix XDP rx queues registeringLouis Amas
The registration of XDP queue information is incorrect because the RX queue id we use is invalid. When port->id == 0 it appears to works as expected yet it's no longer the case when port->id != 0. The problem arised while using a recent kernel version on the MACCHIATOBin. This board has several ports: * eth0 and eth1 are 10Gbps interfaces ; both ports has port->id == 0; * eth2 is a 1Gbps interface with port->id != 0. Code from xdp-tutorial (more specifically advanced03-AF_XDP) was used to test packet capture and injection on all these interfaces. Trying to force rx queue ids using: ./af_xdp_user -d eth2 -Q 32 fails as expected (we shall not have more than 4 queues). When we register the XDP rx queue information (using xdp_rxq_info_reg() in function mvpp2_rxq_init()) we tell it to use rxq->id as the queue id. This value is computed as: rxq->id = port->id * max_rxq_count + queue_id where max_rxq_count depends on the device version. In the MACCHIATOBin case, this value is 32, meaning that rx queues on eth2 are numbered from 32 to 35 - there are four of them. Clearly, this is not the per-port queue id that XDP is expecting: it wants a value in the range [0..3]. It shall directly use queue_id which is stored in rxq->logic_rxq -- so let's use that value instead. rxq->id is left untouched ; its value is indeed valid but it should not be used in this context. This is consistent with the remaining part of the code in mvpp2_rxq_init(). With this change, packet capture is working as expected on all the MACCHIATOBin ports.
