Pull networking updates from Paolo Abeni:
"Core:
- Implement the Device Memory TCP transmit path, allowing zero-copy
data transmission on top of TCP from e.g. GPU memory to the wire.
- Move all the IPv6 routing tables management outside the RTNL scope,
under its own lock and RCU. The route control path is now 3x times
faster.
- Convert queue related netlink ops to instance lock, reducing again
the scope of the RTNL lock. This improves the control plane
scalability.
- Refactor the software crc32c implementation, removing unneeded
abstraction layers and improving significantly the related
micro-benchmarks.
- Optimize the GRO engine for UDP-tunneled traffic, for a 10%
performance improvement in related stream tests.
- Cover more per-CPU storage with local nested BH locking; this is a
prep work to remove the current per-CPU lock in local_bh_disable()
on PREMPT_RT.
- Introduce and use nlmsg_payload helper, combining buffer bounds
verification with accessing payload carried by netlink messages.
Netfilter:
- Rewrite the procfs conntrack table implementation, improving
considerably the dump performance. A lot of user-space tools still
use this interface.
- Implement support for wildcard netdevice in netdev basechain and
flowtables.
- Integrate conntrack information into nft trace infrastructure.
- Export set count and backend name to userspace, for better
introspection.
BPF:
- BPF qdisc support: BPF-qdisc can be implemented with BPF struct_ops
programs and can be controlled in similar way to traditional qdiscs
using the "tc qdisc" command.
- Refactor the UDP socket iterator, addressing long standing issues
WRT duplicate hits or missed sockets.
Protocols:
- Improve TCP receive buffer auto-tuning and increase the default
upper bound for the receive buffer; overall this improves the
single flow maximum thoughput on 200Gbs link by over 60%.
- Add AFS GSSAPI security class to AF_RXRPC; it provides transport
security for connections to the AFS fileserver and VL server.
- Improve TCP multipath routing, so that the sources address always
matches the nexthop device.
- Introduce SO_PASSRIGHTS for AF_UNIX, to allow disabling SCM_RIGHTS,
and thus preventing DoS caused by passing around problematic FDs.
- Retire DCCP socket. DCCP only receives updates for bugs, and major
distros disable it by default. Its removal allows for better
organisation of TCP fields to reduce the number of cache lines hit
in the fast path.
- Extend TCP drop-reason support to cover PAWS checks.
Driver API:
- Reorganize PTP ioctl flag support to require an explicit opt-in for
the drivers, avoiding the problem of drivers not rejecting new
unsupported flags.
- Converted several device drivers to timestamping APIs.
- Introduce per-PHY ethtool dump helpers, improving the support for
dump operations targeting PHYs.
Tests and tooling:
- Add support for classic netlink in user space C codegen, so that
ynl-c can now read, create and modify links, routes addresses and
qdisc layer configuration.
- Add ynl sub-types for binary attributes, allowing ynl-c to output
known struct instead of raw binary data, clarifying the classic
netlink output.
- Extend MPTCP selftests to improve the code-coverage.
- Add tests for XDP tail adjustment in AF_XDP.
New hardware / drivers:
- OpenVPN virtual driver: offload OpenVPN data channels processing to
the kernel-space, increasing the data transfer throughput WRT the
user-space implementation.
- Renesas glue driver for the gigabit ethernet RZ/V2H(P) SoC.

As explained in the next patch, SO_PASSRIGHTS would have a problem
if we assigned a corresponding bit to socket->flags, so it must be
managed in struct sock.
Mixing socket->flags and sk->sk_flags for similar options will look
confusing, and sk->sk_flags does not have enough space on 32bit system.
Also, as mentioned in commit 16e572626961 ("af_unix: dont send
SCM_CREDENTIALS by default"), SOCK_PASSCRED and SOCK_PASSPID handling
is known to be slow, and managing the flags in struct socket cannot
avoid that for embryo sockets.
Let's move SOCK_PASS{CRED,PIDFD,SEC} to struct sock.
While at it, other SOCK_XXX flags in net.h are grouped as enum.
Note that assign_bit() was atomic, so the writer side is moved down
after lock_sock() in setsockopt(), but the bit is only read once
in sendmsg() and recvmsg(), so lock_sock() is not needed there.

For historical reasons mips has to override the socket enum values but
the defines are all the same. So simply move the ARCH_HAS_SOCKET_TYPES
scope.

Coredumping currently supports two modes:
(1) Dumping directly into a file somewhere on the filesystem.
(2) Dumping into a pipe connected to a usermode helper process
spawned as a child of the system_unbound_wq or kthreadd.
For simplicity I'm mostly ignoring (1). There's probably still some
users of (1) out there but processing coredumps in this way can be
considered adventurous especially in the face of set*id binaries.
The most common option should be (2) by now. It works by allowing
userspace to put a string into /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern like:
|/usr/lib/systemd/systemd-coredump %P %u %g %s %t %c %h
The "|" at the beginning indicates to the kernel that a pipe must be
used. The path following the pipe indicator is a path to a binary that
will be spawned as a usermode helper process. Any additional parameters
pass information about the task that is generating the coredump to the
binary that processes the coredump.
In the example core_pattern shown above systemd-coredump is spawned as a
usermode helper. There's various conceptual consequences of this
(non-exhaustive list):
- systemd-coredump is spawned with file descriptor number 0 (stdin)
connected to the read-end of the pipe. All other file descriptors are
closed. That specifically includes 1 (stdout) and 2 (stderr). This has
already caused bugs because userspace assumed that this cannot happen
(Whether or not this is a sane assumption is irrelevant.).
- systemd-coredump will be spawned as a child of system_unbound_wq. So
it is not a child of any userspace process and specifically not a
child of PID 1. It cannot be waited upon and is in a weird hybrid
upcall which are difficult for userspace to control correctly.
- systemd-coredump is spawned with full kernel privileges. This
necessitates all kinds of weird privilege dropping excercises in
userspace to make this safe.
- A new usermode helper has to be spawned for each crashing process.
This series adds a new mode:
(3) Dumping into an AF_UNIX socket.
Userspace can set /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern to:
@/path/to/coredump.socket
The "@" at the beginning indicates to the kernel that an AF_UNIX
coredump socket will be used to process coredumps.
The coredump socket must be located in the initial mount namespace.
When a task coredumps it opens a client socket in the initial network
namespace and connects to the coredump socket.
- The coredump server uses SO_PEERPIDFD to get a stable handle on the
connected crashing task. The retrieved pidfd will provide a stable
reference even if the crashing task gets SIGKILLed while generating
the coredump.
- By setting core_pipe_limit non-zero userspace can guarantee that the
crashing task cannot be reaped behind it's back and thus process all
necessary information in /proc/<pid>. The SO_PEERPIDFD can be used to
detect whether /proc/<pid> still refers to the same process.
The core_pipe_limit isn't used to rate-limit connections to the
socket. This can simply be done via AF_UNIX sockets directly.
- The pidfd for the crashing task will grow new information how the task
coredumps.
- The coredump server should mark itself as non-dumpable.
- A container coredump server in a separate network namespace can simply
bind to another well-know address and systemd-coredump fowards
coredumps to the container.
- Coredumps could in the future also be handled via per-user/session
coredump servers that run only with that users privileges.
The coredump server listens on the coredump socket and accepts a
new coredump connection. It then retrieves SO_PEERPIDFD for the
client, inspects uid/gid and hands the accepted client to the users
own coredump handler which runs with the users privileges only
(It must of coure pay close attention to not forward crashing suid
binaries.).
The new coredump socket will allow userspace to not have to rely on
usermode helpers for processing coredumps and provides a safer way to
handle them instead of relying on super privileged coredumping helpers
that have and continue to cause significant CVEs.
This will also be significantly more lightweight since no fork()+exec()
for the usermodehelper is required for each crashing process. The
coredump server in userspace can e.g., just keep a worker pool.

Network drivers are using sendpage_ok() to check the first page of an
iterator in order to disable MSG_SPLICE_PAGES. The iterator can
represent list of contiguous pages.
When MSG_SPLICE_PAGES is enabled skb_splice_from_iter() is being used,
it requires all pages in the iterator to be sendable. Therefore it needs
to check that each page is sendable.
The patch introduces a helper sendpages_ok(), it returns true if all the
contiguous pages are sendable.
Drivers who want to send contiguous pages with MSG_SPLICE_PAGES may use
this helper to check whether the page list is OK. If the helper does not
return true, the driver should remove MSG_SPLICE_PAGES flag.

Rather than pass in flags, error pointer, and whether this is a kernel
invocation or not, add a struct proto_accept_arg struct as the argument.
This then holds all of these arguments, and prepares accept for being
able to pass back more information.
No functional changes in this patch.

IPV6_ADDRFORM socket option is evil, because it can change sock->ops
while other threads might read it. Same issue for sk->sk_family
being set to AF_INET.
Adding READ_ONCE() over sock->ops reads is needed for sockets
that might be impacted by IPV6_ADDRFORM.
Note that mptcp_is_tcpsk() can also overwrite sock->ops.
Adding annotations for all sk->sk_family reads will require
more patches :/

Remove ->sendpage() and ->sendpage_locked(). sendmsg() with
MSG_SPLICE_PAGES should be used instead. This allows multiple pages and
multipage folios to be passed through.

Implement SCM_PIDFD, a new type of CMSG type analogical to SCM_CREDENTIALS,
but it contains pidfd instead of plain pid, which allows programmers not
to care about PID reuse problem.
We mask SO_PASSPIDFD feature if CONFIG_UNIX is not builtin because
it depends on a pidfd_prepare() API which is not exported to the kernel
modules.

Add an optional method, ->splice_eof(), to allow splice to indicate the
premature termination of a splice to struct file_operations and struct
proto_ops.
This is called if sendfile() or splice() encounters all of the following
conditions inside splice_direct_to_actor():
(1) the user did not set SPLICE_F_MORE (splice only), and
(2) an EOF condition occurred (->splice_read() returned 0), and
(3) we haven't read enough to fulfill the request (ie. len > 0 still), and
(4) we have already spliced at least one byte.
A further patch will modify the behaviour of SPLICE_F_MORE to always be
passed to the actor if either the user set it or we haven't yet read
sufficient data to fulfill the request.

We will soon introduce custom setsockopt for UDP sockets, too.
Instead of doing even more complex arbitrary checks inside
sock_use_custom_sol_socket(), add a new socket flag and set it
for the relevant socket types (currently only MPTCP).

DO_ONCE(func, ...) will call func with spinlock which acquired by
spin_lock_irqsave in __do_once_start. But the get_random_once_wait will
sleep in get_random_bytes_wait -> wait_for_random_bytes.
Fortunately, there is no place to use {net_}get_random_once_wait, so we
could remove them simply.

Currently both splice() and sockmap use ->read_sock() to
read skb from receive queue, but for sockmap we only read
one entire skb at a time, so ->read_sock() is too conservative
to use. Introduce a new proto_ops ->read_skb() which supports
this sematic, with this we can finally pass the ownership of
skb to recv actors.
For non-TCP protocols, all ->read_sock() can be simply
converted to ->read_skb().

No need to restrict these anymore, as the worker threads are direct
clones of the original task. Hence we know for a fact that we can
support anything that the regular task can.
Since the only user of proto_ops->flags was to flag PROTO_CMSG_DATA_ONLY,
kill the member and the flag definition too.

Currently, the sock_from_file prototype takes an "err" pointer that is
either not set or set to -ENOTSOCK IFF the returned socket is NULL. This
makes the error redundant and it is ignored by a few callers.
This patch simplifies the API by letting callers deduce the error based
on whether the returned socket is NULL or not.

The original problem was from nvme-over-tcp code, who mistakenly uses
kernel_sendpage() to send pages allocated by __get_free_pages() without
__GFP_COMP flag. Such pages don't have refcount (page_count is 0) on
tail pages, sending them by kernel_sendpage() may trigger a kernel panic
from a corrupted kernel heap, because these pages are incorrectly freed
in network stack as page_count 0 pages.
This patch introduces a helper sendpage_ok(), it returns true if the
checking page,
- is not slab page: PageSlab(page) is false.
- has page refcount: page_count(page) is not zero
All drivers who want to send page to remote end by kernel_sendpage()
may use this helper to check whether the page is OK. If the helper does
not return true, the driver should try other non sendpage method (e.g.
sock_no_sendpage()) to handle the page.

For TCP tx zero-copy, the kernel notifies the process of completions by
queuing completion notifications on the socket error queue. This patch
allows reading these notifications via recvmsg to support TCP tx
zero-copy.
Ancillary data was originally disallowed due to privilege escalation
via io_uring's offloading of sendmsg() onto a kernel thread with kernel
credentials (https://crbug.com/project-zero/1975). So, we must ensure
that the socket type is one where the ancillary data types that are
delivered on recvmsg are plain data (no file descriptors or values that
are translated based on the identity of the calling process).
This was tested by using io_uring to call recvmsg on the MSG_ERRQUEUE
with tx zero-copy enabled. Before this patch, we received -EINVALID from
this specific code path. After this patch, we could read tcp tx
zero-copy completion notifications from the MSG_ERRQUEUE.

Instead of enabling dynamic debug globally with CONFIG_DYNAMIC_DEBUG,
CONFIG_DYNAMIC_DEBUG_CORE will only enable core function of dynamic
debug. With the DYNAMIC_DEBUG_MODULE defined for any modules, dynamic
debug will be tied to them.
This is useful for people who only want to enable dynamic debug for
kernel modules without worrying about kernel image size and memory
consumption is increasing too much.

socket->wq is assign-once, set when we are initializing both
struct socket it's in and struct socket_wq it points to. As the
matter of fact, the only reason for separate allocation was the
ability to RCU-delay freeing of socket_wq. RCU-delaying the
freeing of socket itself gets rid of that need, so we can just
fold struct socket_wq into the end of struct socket and simplify
the life both for sock_alloc_inode() (one allocation instead of
two) and for tun/tap oddballs, where we used to embed struct socket
and struct socket_wq into the same structure (now - embedding just
the struct socket).
Note that reference to struct socket_wq in struct sock does remain
a reference - that's unchanged.

The SIOCGSTAMP/SIOCGSTAMPNS ioctl commands are implemented by many
socket protocol handlers, and all of those end up calling the same
sock_get_timestamp()/sock_get_timestampns() helper functions, which
results in a lot of duplicate code.
With the introduction of 64-bit time_t on 32-bit architectures, this
gets worse, as we then need four different ioctl commands in each
socket protocol implementation.
To simplify that, let's add a new .gettstamp() operation in
struct proto_ops, and move ioctl implementation into the common
sock_ioctl()/compat_sock_ioctl_trans() functions that these all go
through.
We can reuse the sock_get_timestamp() implementation, but generalize
it so it can deal with both native and compat mode, as well as
timeval and timespec structures.

net_dbg_ratelimited tests the dynamic debug descriptor the old-fashioned
way, and doesn't utilize the static key/jump label implementation when
CONFIG_JUMP_LABEL is set. Use the DYNAMIC_DEBUG_BRANCH which is defined
appropriately.

We never use RCU protection for it, just a lot of cargo-cult
rcu_deference_protects calls.
Note that we do keep the kfree_rcu call for it, as the references through
struct sock are RCU protected and thus might require a grace period before
freeing.

The poll() changes were not well thought out, and completely
unexplained. They also caused a huge performance regression, because
"->poll()" was no longer a trivial file operation that just called down
to the underlying file operations, but instead did at least two indirect
calls.
Indirect calls are sadly slow now with the Spectre mitigation, but the
performance problem could at least be largely mitigated by changing the
"->get_poll_head()" operation to just have a per-file-descriptor pointer
to the poll head instead. That gets rid of one of the new indirections.
But that doesn't fix the new complexity that is completely unwarranted
for the regular case. The (undocumented) reason for the poll() changes
was some alleged AIO poll race fixing, but we don't make the common case
slower and more complex for some uncommon special case, so this all
really needs way more explanations and most likely a fundamental
redesign.

Applications might use SO_RCVLOWAT on TCP socket hoping to receive
one [E]POLLIN event only when a given amount of bytes are ready in socket
receive queue.
Problem is that receive autotuning is not aware of this constraint,
meaning sk_rcvbuf might be too small to allow all bytes to be stored.
Add a new (struct proto_ops)->set_rcvlowat method so that a protocol
can override the default setsockopt(SO_RCVLOWAT) behavior.

Fun set of conflict resolutions here...
For the mac80211 stuff, these were fortunately just parallel
adds. Trivially resolved.
In drivers/net/phy/phy.c we had a bug fix in 'net' that moved the
function phy_disable_interrupts() earlier in the file, whilst in
'net-next' the phy_error() call from this function was removed.
In net/ipv4/xfrm4_policy.c, David Ahern's changes to remove the
'rt_table_id' member of rtable collided with a bug fix in 'net' that
added a new struct member "rt_mtu_locked" which needs to be copied
over here.
The mlxsw driver conflict consisted of net-next separating
the span code and definitions into separate files, whilst
a 'net' bug fix made some changes to that moved code.
The mlx5 infiniband conflict resolution was quite non-trivial,
the RDMA tree's merge commit was used as a guide here, and
here are their notes:

Due to bug fixes found by the syzkaller bot and taken into the for-rc
branch after development for the 4.17 merge window had already started
being taken into the for-next branch, there were fairly non-trivial
merge issues that would need to be resolved between the for-rc branch

Now when using 'ss' in iproute, kernel would try to load all _diag
modules, which also causes corresponding family and proto modules
to be loaded as well due to module dependencies.
Like after running 'ss', sctp, dccp, af_packet (if it works as a module)
would be loaded.
For example:

As these family and proto modules are loaded unintentionally, it
could cause some problems, like:
- Some debug tools use 'ss' to collect the socket info, which loads all
those diag and family and protocol modules. It's noisy for identifying
issues.
- Users usually expect to drop sctp init packet silently when they
have no sense of sctp protocol instead of sending abort back.
- It wastes resources (especially with multiple netns), and SCTP module
can't be unloaded once it's loaded.
...
In short, it's really inappropriate to have these family and proto
modules loaded unexpectedly when just doing debugging with inet_diag.
This patch is to introduce sock_load_diag_module() where it loads
the _diag module only when it's corresponding family or proto has
been already registered.
Note that we can't just load _diag module without the family or
proto loaded, as some symbols used in _diag module are from the
family or proto module.

or store length of sockaddr into "int *socklen" parameter
and return zero on success.
"int *socklen" parameter is awkward. For example, if caller does not
care, it still needs to provide on-stack storage for the value
it does not need.
None of the many FOO_getname() functions of various protocols
ever used old value of *socklen. They always just overwrite it.
This change drops this parameter, and makes all these functions, on success,
return length of sockaddr. It's always >= 0 and can be differentiated
from an error.
Tests in callers are changed from "if (err)" to "if (err < 0)", where needed.
rpc_sockname() lost "int buflen" parameter, since its only use was
to be passed to kernel_getsockname() as &buflen and subsequently
not used in any way.
Userspace API is not changed.

Patch series "kmemcheck: kill kmemcheck", v2.
As discussed at LSF/MM, kill kmemcheck.
KASan is a replacement that is able to work without the limitation of
kmemcheck (single CPU, slow). KASan is already upstream.
We are also not aware of any users of kmemcheck (or users who don't
consider KASan as a suitable replacement).
The only objection was that since KASAN wasn't supported by all GCC
versions provided by distros at that time we should hold off for 2
years, and try again.
Now that 2 years have passed, and all distros provide gcc that supports
KASAN, kill kmemcheck again for the very same reasons.
This patch (of 4):
Remove kmemcheck annotations, and calls to kmemcheck from the kernel.

Add new proto_ops sendmsg_locked and sendpage_locked that can be
called when the socket lock is already held. Correspondingly, add
kernel_sendmsg_locked and kernel_sendpage_locked as front end
functions.
These functions will be used in zero proxy so that we can take
the socket lock in a ULP sendmsg/sendpage and then directly call the
backend transport proto_ops functions.
