2025-06-17sysfs: treewide: switch back to attribute_group::bin_attrsThomas Weißschuh
The normal bin_attrs field can now handle const pointers. This makes the _new variant unnecessary. Switch all users back. 2025-06-17sysfs: treewide: switch back to bin_attribute::read()/write()Thomas Weißschuh

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/driver-core Pull driver core updatesk from Greg KH: "Here is the big set of driver core updates for 6.15-rc1. Lots of stuff happened this development cycle, including: - kernfs scaling changes to make it even faster thanks to rcu - bin_attribute constify work in many subsystems - faux bus minor tweaks for the rust bindings - rust binding updates for driver core, pci, and platform busses, making more functionaliy available to rust drivers. These are all due to people actually trying to use the bindings that were in 6.14. - make Rafael and Danilo full co-maintainers of the driver core codebase - other minor fixes and updates" * tag 'driver-core-6.15-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/driver-core: (52 commits) rust: platform: require Send for Driver trait implementers rust: pci: require Send for Driver trait implementers rust: platform: impl Send + Sync for platform::Device rust: pci: impl Send + Sync for pci::Device rust: platform: fix unrestricted &mut platform::Device rust: pci: fix unrestricted &mut pci::Device rust: device: implement device context marker rust: pci: use to_result() in enable_device_mem() MAINTAINERS: driver core: mark Rafael and Danilo as co-maintainers rust/kernel/faux: mark Registration methods inline driver core: faux: only create the device if probe() succeeds rust/faux: Add missing parent argument to Registration::new() rust/faux: Drop #[repr(transparent)] from faux::Registration rust: io: fix devres test with new io accessor functions rust: io: rename `io::Io` accessors kernfs: Move dput() outside of the RCU section. efi: rci2: mark bin_attribute as __ro_after_init rapidio: constify 'struct bin_attribute' firmware: qemu_fw_cfg: constify 'struct bin_attribute' powerpc/perf/hv-24x7: Constify 'struct bin_attribute' ...
2025-02-21powerpc/powernv/opal: Constify 'struct bin_attribute'Thomas Weißschuh
The sysfs core now allows instances of 'struct bin_attribute' to be moved into read-only memory. Make use of that to protect them against accidental or malicious modifications. 2024-02-23crash: split vmcoreinfo exporting code out from crash_core.cBaoquan He
Now move the relevant codes into separate files: kernel/crash_reserve.c, include/linux/crash_reserve.h. And add config item CRASH_RESERVE to control its enabling. And also update the old ifdeffery of CONFIG_CRASH_CORE, including of <linux/crash_core.h> and config item dependency on CRASH_CORE accordingly. And also do renaming as follows: - arch/xxx/kernel/{crash_core.c => vmcore_info.c} because they are only related to vmcoreinfo exporting on x86, arm64, riscv. And also Remove config item CRASH_CORE, and rely on CONFIG_KEXEC_CORE to decide if build in crash_core.c. 2022-09-05powerpc/powernv: Add missing of_node_put()sLiang He
In these driver init functions, there are two kinds of errors: (1) missing of_put_node() for of_find_compatible_node()'s returned pointer (refcount incremented) in fail path or when it is not used anymore. (2) missing of_put_node() for 'for_each_xxx' loop's break Signed-off-by: Liang He <windhl@126.com> [mpe: Use out_put_xxx goto label naming] Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20220620132553.4073863-1-windhl@126.com

2022-03-08powerpc: declare unmodified attribute_group usages constRohan McLure
Inspired by (bd75b4ef4977: Constify static attribute_group structs), accepted by linux-next, reported: https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/linuxppc-dev/patch/20220210202805.7750-4-rikard.falkeborn@gmail.com/ Nearly all singletons of type struct attribute_group are never modified, and so are candidates for being const. 2021-12-23powerpc/powernv: Add __init attribute to eligible functionsNick Child
Some functions defined in 'arch/powerpc/platforms/powernv' are deserving of an `__init` macro attribute. These functions are only called by other initialization functions and therefore should inherit the attribute. Also, change function declarations in header files to include `__init`. 2021-01-06elf_prstatus: collect the common part (everything before pr_reg) into a structAl Viro
Preparations to doing i386 compat elf_prstatus sanely - rather than duplicating the beginning of compat_elf_prstatus, take these fields into a separate structure (compat_elf_prstatus_common), so that it could be reused. Due to the incestous relationship between binfmt_elf.c and compat_binfmt_elf.c we need the same shape change done to native struct elf_prstatus, gathering the fields prior to pr_reg into a new structure (struct elf_prstatus_common). Fortunately, offset of pr_reg is always a multiple of 16 with no padding right before it, so it's possible to turn all the stuff prior to it into a single member without disturbing the layout. 2020-02-19powerpc/powernv: Move core and fadump_release_opalcore under new kobjectSourabh Jain
The /sys/firmware/opal/core and /sys/kernel/fadump_release_opalcore sysfs files are used to export and release the OPAL memory on PowerNV platform. let's organize them into a new kobject under /sys/firmware/opal/mpipl/ directory. 2019-09-14powerpc/opalcore: export /sys/firmware/opal/core for analysing opal crashesHari Bathini
Export /sys/firmware/opal/core file to analyze opal crashes. Since OPAL core can be generated independent of CONFIG_FA_DUMP support in kernel, add this support under a new kernel config option CONFIG_OPAL_CORE. Also, avoid code duplication by moving common code used while exporting /proc/vmcore and/or /sys/firmware/opal/core file(s).
