2025-04-03scsi: megaraid_sas: Block zero-length ATA VPD inquiryChandrakanth Patil
A firmware bug was observed where ATA VPD inquiry commands with a zero-length data payload were not handled and failed with a non-standard status code of 0xf0. Avoid sending ATA VPD inquiry commands without data payload by setting the device no_vpd_size flag to 1. In addition, if the firmware returns a status code of 0xf0, set scsi_cmnd->result to CHECK_CONDITION to facilitate proper error handling. Suggested-by: Martin K. 2024-12-04scsi: Rename .slave_alloc() and .slave_destroy()Bart Van Assche
Rename .slave_alloc() into .sdev_init() and .slave_destroy() into .sdev_destroy(). The new names make it clear that these are actions on SCSI devices. Make this change in the SCSI core, SCSI drivers and also in the ATA drivers. No functionality has been changed. This patch has been created as follows: * Change the text "slave_alloc" into "sdev_init" in all source files except those in drivers/net/ and Documentation/. * Change the text "slave_destroy" into "sdev_destroy" in all source files except those in drivers/net/ and Documentation/. * Rename lpfc_no_slave() into lpfc_no_sdev(). * Manually adjust whitespace where necessary to restore vertical alignment (dc395x driver and include/linux/libata.h). selected registers In BMC environments with concurrent access to multiple registers, certain registers occasionally yield a value of 0 even after 3 retries due to hardware errata. As a fix, we have extended the retry count from 3 to 30. The same errata applies to the mpt3sas driver, and a similar patch has been accepted. The following processes run into a deadlock. CPU 41 was waiting for CPU 29 to handle a CSD request while holding spinlock "crashdump_lock", but CPU 29 was hung by that spinlock with IRQs disabled. While struct_size() is normally used in situations where the structure type already has a pointer instance, there are places where no variable is available. In the past, this has been worked around by using a typed NULL first argument, but this is a bit ugly. Add a helper to do this, and replace the handful of instances of the code pattern with it. So, replace one-element array with flexible-array member in struct MR_PD_CFG_SEQ_NUM_SYNC and refactor the rest of the code accordingly. 2022-04-06scsi: megaraid_sas: Target with invalid LUN ID is deleted during scanChandrakanth patil
The megaraid_sas driver supports single LUN for RAID devices. That is LUN 0. All other LUNs are unsupported. When a device scan on a logical target with invalid LUN number is invoked through sysfs, that target ends up getting removed. Add LUN ID validation in the slave destroy function to avoid the target deletion.
